Chapter 1

Serena

What the hell?!

He could not be talking about me right?

Words could never describe perfectly how fucked I felt. Standing barely ten feet away from the man I thought was going to be my happily ever after, I heard him utter the most hellbound words a man would ever say about a woman he claims to love.

Alright, pause. Let's rewind.

My name is Serena Winters and I am a college student at the University of Astoria. I am 22 years old and madly in love with my boyfriend, Mason. My father is a well respected werewolf in our city and also a renowned architect, whose works precedes his name.

Few hours ago, I was seated excitedly, staring down at the city lights as the private jet my father's friend sent to pick us up from Astoria, landed at the airport of Elvaris. The sprawling metropolis looked like a sea of glittering stars, far bigger and more vibrant than what we had back in Astoria.

My father had to relocate from Astoria down here for work and of course, I had to be with him. His friend, Alpha Dom had pulled some strings as alpha of this city and gotten me a transfer into the university of Elvaris, mid of the school year. I was happy about it because it meant more access to learning materials, better opportunities, and the chance to grow into someone who wasn’t just the overprotected daughter of a renowned architect.

I glanced at my father seated across from me. He looked proud, his hand resting on the briefcase containing the blueprints for his next big project—thanks to Alpha Dom.

Above all the things that made our relocation worth it was that I was going to see Mason and officially put an end to my virginity. I felt a helluva of emotions just by thinking about his dick buried deep inside me.

Excitement. Nervousness. Anticipation? Fuck! It can be whatever it wants to be.

Mason is the son of Alpha Thomas, the Alpha over Astoria. But he is schooling in the University of Elvaris. The biggest werewolf city in the country. Emma, my bestfriend, joined him there after our sophomore year in Astoria. We'd been dating for almost a year now.

Mason and I had agreed that tonight, once I got to the academy, we’d finally take that step and break my virginity. It was something we'd talked about for a while, and I was ready to take that next step with him.

As the jet touched down, my dad turned to me with a smile. "We're here, kiddo."

“I still can’t believe it, Dad,” I said, grinning as the flight crew opened the door.

“Believe it. Alpha Dom really pulled through for us,” he smiled.

I was referring to having sex with Mason.

"Of course he really did pull through,” I smiled.

Alpha Dom had arranged for a car to take us straight to his mansion where we would be staying temporarily until my father settled into his new position. I, however, had other plans for the evening. My school transfer papers had already been filed, and I couldn’t wait to see Mason.

"Let’s go home." my dad said as we stepped off the jet. The evening air was crisp, and the city loomed in the distance like a beautiful dream.

I hesitated for a moment. "Actually, Dad... I was thinking, maybe I could see the school tomorrow. I mean, I’d love to explore it tonight, and Emma’s already waiting for me. We were going to meet up."

He gave me a knowing smile, one that made me feel a bit guilty. "Ah, Emma. Alright. But don't be out too late. You’re still settling in, and tomorrow will be a big day."

"I won’t, I promise!" I grinned, giving him a quick hug before climbing into the sleek black car Alpha Dom had sent for us.

“Take her wherever she needs to go and make sure she gets back safely,” my dad told the driver.

“Of course, sir,” the driver said as he opened the door for me.

I slid into the back seat, texting Mason as the car zoomed off. On my way! Can’t wait to see you!

The city whizzed past as the car took me to the academy. I hadn’t seen Mason in months, and my whole body hummed with excitement. I had watched lots of videos in preparation for tonight, used the right oils on my body and even got my first waxing session done!

We finally pulled up the massive gates of the academy. I couldn't help but marvel at its grandeur—tall spires, ancient stonework, and students strolling the grounds like it was a different world altogether.

As the car stopped, I turned to the driver. “You can head back. I’ll find my way from here.”

The driver looked hesitant but nodded. “Very well, miss. Be careful.”

“I will,” I promised, stepping out of the car and glancing at my phone. Mason had texted me the directions to his lodge. I followed them, excitement bubbling in my chest with every step. This was it. I was finally here. Finally with him.

Finally back to the worst nightmare ever!

I had neared his lodge when I spotted him in the garden with a few friends. His smile was all I wanted to wake up to every morning. His tall and lean frame was just too beautiful to behold. He has tousled dark brown hair that brought out the hazel in his eyes.

I approached the garden, ready to sneak up on him. I spotted him almost immediately—his tall frame unmistakable. He was with a group of friends, all of them laughing and chatting by the fountain. My smile grew wider, and I quickened my steps, imagining the look on his face when I surprised him.

But that’s when I heard something that stopped me in my tracks.

“When’s your ‘local girlfriend’ getting here?” one of his friends asked, snickering.

I froze, the playful smile vanishing from my face.

Mason laughed—a deep, mocking laugh that I didn’t recognize. “I don’t know. She should be here soon, though. Probably lost in this big school. She’s never been in a real city before, poor thing. All her life she’s been a sissy, raised in that tiny little town with no idea how the real world works.”

His friends burst out laughing. My heart fell like a mighty wave back into my stomach.

“So what’s the plan, man?” another one asked. “You gonna show her around, or…?”

Mason shrugged. “Sort of. Or not. Honestly, I just want to get it over with—take her virginity, win the bet, and be done with her.”

I froze. Every word felt like a knife slicing into my chest.

The same guy laughed. “Five grand just for that, huh? Sounds easy enough.”

Mason smirked. “You have no idea. She’s so damn uptight. All prim and proper, acting like she’s too good for everything. But once I break her, I’ll be done with her. I’ve already got a real girlfriend here. No way in hell am I letting them see me with such a naive, small-town girl.”

I staggered backward, the world around me spinning. My vision blurred as tears filled my eyes, but I forced myself to stay quiet, my body trembling as I stood hidden behind the tall hedge.

He... didn’t love me. He never loved me. It was all a fucking bet. My virginity was nothing more than a game to him—a way to laugh with his friends.

I couldn’t breathe. My chest felt like it was caving in, my legs like they would give out any second. Every sweet word, every tender moment we shared—all of it had been a lie.

How could I have been so stupid? How could I have believed that he loved me? That he respected me? That all those promises meant anything? A twig snapped behind me and I turned.

Don’t you dare do anything silly!
