Mutual Destruction - Mafia Rom Com

Summary

Kesi Smith has killed twelve people and never lost a night of sleep over it. Number thirteen is supposed to be the easiest job of her career — a rival heiress, alone in a hotel bar, no security in sight. She does not expect to like her. She really does not expect Sloane Marchetti to buy the first round, make her laugh twice in ten minutes, and then, an hour later, pull a gun on her in a hotel suite — because Sloane's been hired to kill Kesi too. Same night. Same hotel. Same contract, pointed both ways. They fake each other's deaths instead of finishing the job, split the fee, and go their separate ways. Clean. Simple. Over. Except Sloane starts digging into who put a hit on her in the first place — and finds out it was her own family's people, working a deal with Kesi's family, to erase them both quietly and blame it on a rival crew. Sloane doesn't get mad. She gets married. She shows up at Kesi's door with a proposal that isn't romantic — it's strategic. Marry her. Become untouchable. Help her take back what's hers from the people who tried to bury her. Kesi doesn't have a family to go home to anymore. She has nothing to lose and, for the first time, something worth staying for. So she says yes. What neither of them counts on: the marriage that was supposed to be a business arrangement starts feeling like something else entirely — somewhere between the joint bank account, the matching guns, and the nights they can't stop finding reasons to stay in the same room. They were each other's contract. Now they're each other's problem, partner, and — if they can survive what's coming for them — maybe the only person either of them has ever really trusted. Mutual destruction was the plan. Falling in love was the complication nobody put in the contract.

Ready To Be Destroyed?

Get comfortable. Maybe get a drink, because you’re going to need it.

This is a story about two women who were hired to kill each other, fell a little in love before they figured that out, and then got legally married to cover it up. It gets messier from there. It gets bloodier from there. And it also, somehow, gets funnier from there.

If you like your romance with a body count, your banter with teeth in it, and your slow burns lit with an actual match — welcome. You’re home.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  1. Two women who are very good at their jobs and very bad at admitting they like each other.
  2. A marriage that starts as a business plan and turns into something neither of them saw coming.
  3. At least one truly unhinged domestic argument about whose turn it is to hide a body.
