Chapter 1

"Hello, everyone! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a beautiful girl named Mila, and I've been married for about three years now. It was a marriage born out of a true love story..."

The smooth scratching of my pen was abruptly cut short by the frantic voice of the maid.

"Madam! Master has just arrived, and he is locked in a fierce argument with his brother right now!"

"Alright, I'm coming," I replied, my heart sinking.

I rushed down the grand staircase, my steps hurried as I scrambled to see what had gone wrong this time.

"Didn't I tell you to stay out of my business?!" a sharp voice echoed through the hall.

The other countered, his tone dripping with pure provocation, "I was only doing what needed to be done."

Okay, let's pause for a quick second. Let me break this down for you, dear readers.

I married a wealthy young man, exactly like what happens in those cliché novels—a poor heroine who catches the eye of an obscenely rich guy who falls in love with her at first sight. And, as tradition dictates, there always has to be a villain. In my story, that villain is his brother.

Yes, I know you might be a bit confused, so let me explain further. My husband belongs to a family that isn't just rich; they are astronomically wealthy. He has only one brother. What happened in the past was that my husband’s father was deeply in love with a woman, but his own father refused to accept her. Instead, he forced him into a loveless marriage with Arlo’s mother, whom he treated terribly. Later on, he went ahead and married his old flame—Eaden’s mother, who is my mother-in-law.

Because of this messy history, the two brothers harbor a deep, mutual hatred for one another, constantly locked in a bitter rivalry. But enough background for now; let’s get back to the scene.

"I’ve warned you to stay away from me, Arlo, yet you constantly insist on causing trouble!" Eaden barked, his knuckles whitening.

Arlo smirked, crossing his arms mockingly. "Well, if you want me to stop causing trouble... why don't you just give me your wife?"

Before the final word could fully leave his mouth, a brutal punch from Eaden crashed directly into Arlo's jaw, sending him stumbling back.

"In your dreams!" Eaden snarled, his chest heaving with rage.

Arlo wiped a trickle of blood from his lip, a dark, unsettling smile spreading across his face. "We shall see. Time will tell whether this happens in my dreams... or in reality." With those parting words, he turned on his heel and walked away.

I rushed over to Eaden immediately, desperation in my eyes as I tried to calm the storm raging inside him. "Please, don't be angry. This isn't good for your health."

He whirled around to face me, his eyes burning. "You want me not to be angry?! Didn't you hear what he just said? He said he wants you!"

"Don't pay any attention to his words," I pleaded softly, placing a soothing hand on his arm. "I’ve grown used to this since our very first day of marriage, so please, just let it go."

"I can't just let it go," Eaden whispered, his voice trembling with a mixture of fury and protective fear. "I know he's only doing this to get revenge on me. That's why he's targeting you. But I promise you, Mila... I will never let him come near you."

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
