🌿 Nature Magic 🛡️ Protective Magic ✨ Ancient Witchcraft 📜 Runic Magic

Dawn unfolded gently across the Kingdom of Elarion.

Golden light spilled over rolling hills, ancient forests, and crystal rivers before settling upon the Ashwood Estate,a manor of pale stone embraced by centuries-old oak trees.

It stood proudly above the town of Silverbrook, watching over its people like a quiet guardian.

Ashwood was neither the grandest estate in the Witch Realm…

Nor the richest.

Yet travellers remembered it more vividly than palaces built of gold.

House Ashwood possessed something wealth could never buy.

Kindness.

For generations, the Ashwoods had devoted themselves to healing the sick, protecting the innocent, and serving the realm without expecting anything in return. Their name carried respect from the smallest villages to the courts of noble families.

Many believed there wasn't a single soul in the Witch Realm who hadn't once been helped by House Ashwood.

And among them all...

No one was more beloved than Lady Elira Ashwood.

Morning sunlight streamed through the tall windows of her chamber, casting delicate patterns across shelves filled with books, dried herbs, glass bottles, and carefully labeled potions.

A gentle breeze stirred the white curtains.

Outside, birds sang as though welcoming another peaceful day.

Inside...

Morning sunlight poured through tall windows lined with shelves of dried herbs, glass bottles, and weathered books.

The room smelled faintly of lavender and fresh mint.

Everything appeared perfectly arranged…

Except its owner.

A soft knock echoed through the room.

"My Lady?"

No response.

Another knock.

"My Lady Elira?"

Silence.

The elderly maid sighed before quietly opening the door.

She wasn't surprised.

The bed was perfectly made.

Empty.

"Oh, not again," she muttered with an affectionate smile.

"She's in the greenhouse."

"As always."

Hidden behind flowering vines and climbing roses stood a glass greenhouse filled with plants from every corner of the realm.

Moon Lilies.

Silver Ferns.

Dragon Moss.

Phoenix Blossoms.

Each one glowed faintly with traces of magic.

Near the center of the greenhouse, a young woman knelt beside a dying Moon Lily.

Long dark brown hair cascaded over one shoulder as she carefully examined its fading petals. Dressed in a simple emerald gown rather than the elaborate dresses expected of noble ladies, she gently brushed soil from the fragile roots.

"Greedy little thing..."

Elira smiled, brushing a strand of dark hair behind her ear.

"Too much moonlight again?"

"Let's fix that.”

She crushed several emerald-green leaves together before mixing them into a small crystal vial.

Soft silver light gathered around Elira's fingertips, flowing gently into the crystal vial like moonlight captured in water.

She let a single glowing drop fall onto the Moon Lily.

For one silent heartbeat...

Nothing happened.

Then the flower trembled.

The pale silver petals slowly unfolded one by one, their soft glow returning until the greenhouse seemed just a little brighter.

A delighted smile spread across Elira's face.

"There you are," she whispered.

"I knew you weren't ready to leave.”

"My Lady."

She turned.

An elderly gardener stood near the doorway, bowing respectfully.

"I've been searching everywhere."

"I lost track of time."

He smiled knowingly.

"The cook suspected as much."

"Breakfast?"

"He refuses to begin until you arrive."

Elira sighed dramatically.

"Then I'd better save him from another lecture."

The gardener chuckled.

Everyone in the estate adored their young lady.

Not because she possessed remarkable healing magic.

Not because she belonged to House Ashwood.

But because she never allowed titles to separate her from the people around her.

She remembered birthdays.

She visited injured workers herself.

She knew every servant by name.

To Elira...

Kindness wasn't expected of a noble.

It was simply the right thing to do.

As she stepped into the gardens, servants greeted her with warm smiles.

"Good morning, Lady Elira."

"Morning."

"Did the Moon Lily survive?"

"It did."

"I knew it would once you saw it."

She laughed softly.

"I only helped."

One of the younger maids whispered excitedly to another.

"I heard Lady Elira healed Lord Alex's son last week."

"They said the royal physicians had already given up."

"But she saved him."

"They say her healing magic is unlike anyone else's."

Elira pretended not to hear.

Rumors had followed her for years.

Some exaggerated.

Some weren't entirely false.

She could heal illnesses that puzzled experienced witches.

She could mend wounds thought impossible to survive.

She had even broken curses that scholars claimed could never be undone.

Yet she never considered herself extraordinary.

"There you are."

A deep voice interrupted her thoughts.

Lord Cedric Ashwood descended the marble staircase leading into the gardens.

Tall, dignified, with silver streaks beginning to appear in his dark hair, he carried himself with quiet authority.

Cedric walks toward her…

He notices a little soil on her cheek from working with the flowers.

Instead of saying anything first…

He gently brushes it away with his thumb.

Then smiles.

"Father."

He smiled warmly.

"Keeping the flowers alive again?"

"They're easier patients than people."

"I wouldn't be so sure."

She laughed.

Lord Cedric offered his daughter his arm.

"Walk with me."

Together they strolled through the gardens overlooking Silverbrook.

Below, the town had already awakened.

Merchants opened their shops.

Children chased one another through the streets.

Smoke curled gently from cottage chimneys.

People lived peacefully.

Few outsiders realized that Silverbrook wasn't merely a human town.

Witches lived openly here.

Magic wasn't feared.

It was simply another part of life.

As father and daughter walked in comfortable silence, church bells echoed across the valley.

Cedric finally spoke.

"The Council has requested your presence tomorrow."

Elira frowned.

"The Council?"

"They've heard about another village suffering from an unknown magical illness."

"I'll leave at sunrise."

"I knew you'd say that."

She smiled.

"If someone needs help, how could I refuse?"

Her father looked at her with unmistakable pride.

"You truly are your mother's daughter."

For a brief moment...

A shadow crossed Elira's eyes.

Even after all these years....

She missed her mother every day.

Elira looked once more across the peaceful valley.

Silverbrook was waking to another ordinary morning.

Children laughed.

Church bells echoed gently through the hills.

Everything felt…

Perfect.

A small smile touched her lips before she turned and disappeared into the Ashwood Estate.

She had no way of knowing…

That beyond the northern mountains…

Deep within lands no map dared name...

Something ancient stirred beneath the endless snow.

Not fully awake.

Not yet.

But waiting.
