First day of new school
TRRRR—!
The alarm blared through the room.
I yanked the blanket over her head with a groan.
"Five more minutes..." I mumbled into the pillow. "I'm barely alive."
"Perrie!" My mom's voice rang out from the kitchen. "Get up! You're going to be late!"
"I'm awake!" I shouted back.
I wasn't to be honest
With another dramatic sigh, I dragged herself out of bed and shuffled to the bathroom
A quick shower later, I slipped into her freshly ironed uniform, grabbed a few hurried bites of breakfast, and stopped in front of the mirror by the door.
I stared at my reflection for a moment.
First day of high school.
A new school.
New people.
A fresh start.
My stomach twisted with nervous excitement.
"This is going to be fine," I whispered to myself, though I wasn't entirely convinced.
I reached school far earlier than I had planned.
Way too early...
The corridors were almost silent, with only the distant sound of a janitor moving chairs somewhere down the hall
When I pushed open the classroom door, I found exactly what I'd expected.
NO-ONE
Not a single student.
"...Great."
I tossed my bag onto the nearest desk and dropped into the chair beside it
"Who shows up this early on the first day?" I muttered. "Apparently... me."
Resting my chin on my folded arms, I let out a long sigh
The room was so quiet i could hear the ticking of the wall clock
Then—
The classroom door slid open.
I lazily lifted her head.
A girl stood in the doorway, frozen.
She blinked once.... then twice.
"...Perrie?"
My eyes widened
"...Anna?"
For a second, neither of us moved.
Then i screamed out loud
"ANNA!"
I practically crashed into her, wrapping both arms around her before the poor girl even had a chance to react
"Oh my God! I thought I'd never see you again!"
Anna laughed, stumbling back a step from the force of the hug.
"You're still this dramatic?"
"And you're still judging me for it."
"I forgot how exhausting you are."
"You missed me."
"...Maybe a little."
I pulled away just enough to look at her, a huge grin spreading across her face.
"I knew it."
Anna rolled her eyes, though she couldn't hide her smile.
"You seriously haven't changed."
"Of course not," i said proudly. "I'm already perfect."
The two of us laughed their way back to their seats, the once-empty classroom suddenly feeling a little less lonely
Anna was my bestfriend since 2nd grade but she was transfered when we got into 8th grade
Then one student arrived....another and then another....
The whole classroom filled with students
The bell rung and it was the most boring and annoying class
HiSTORY!!!
Mr Max was explaining about the French Revolution
"And you kno--"
Anna pinched my hand while looking straight at the whiteboard
"WHA--" I looked ahead at the whiteboard
Mr Max was staring straight into my soul
"Shit--" i whispered to myself
"You... Stand up" his voice was not cold but not soft as well
I stood up looking straight into his eyes as he's some criminal and i am a police officer
"What was the timeline of french revolution?"
"1789–1799" i told without and hesitation and further thoughts
He continuied teaching without asking me to sit down and I was still standing
"Sir.. may i sit?" I asked as polite as i could
"Did i tell you to" his voice was sharp as i hurted his ego and to be honest i did.. not because i answered and tried to show i am smart but because i was not listening to him
Bell rung, he left and i finally sat
Anna who was sitting next to me looked at me with disappointment dripping from her face
"What..?
"You are asking me what" she took a long sigh "grow up kiddo... it's not good to behave like this to someone on their first day of school"
"So he shoul-- wait... it was his first day in this school too... ohh shit so i formed this image about me on the first day of new school" i patted my head in embarrassment
"Ahhh don't worry it is not a big deal" she rubbed my back with gentle hands like i am her child
Suddenly an anonymous man entered the class
"Who is he" i asked her with a whisper
"I... i don’t know" she answered without looking at me as she was herself surprised
