Chapter 1
“Was it good for you?” Aidan asked as he turned his head to face me.
I looked at him. The boy who just took my virginity. Actually, scratch that. Why do we even say that - “took my”? Did he snatch my cooch and run away with it? I think not. Anyways, as I watched his eyes go from my thighs to my lips I couldn’t help but think, is this real life?
Scrunching my face I answered, “I mean it was . . . I don’t know. Short?”
“Short?” he said propping his head up on his hand, “I lasted like fifteen fucking minutes.”
“I just thought it’d be longer, I mean, I don’t know.”
There was no point in lying. I never censored myself before, so why should I start now? Sex was not going to change that. Right?
“Well,” Aidan stopped to smile. He tilted his head like he already knew the answer, “Did you like it?”
I turn onto my side to face him, “Yeah. It was different. The grass was, ah, interesting.” I shook my head back and forth and watched pieces of grass fall onto the chilled ground.
Aidan starts to laugh as one of the pieces hits his chest. With the moonlight shining down, his body looked good enough to taste. His skin had a certain glisten to it. It wasn’t like an unrealistic Edward Cullen sparkle, but almost like a waxy apple. And damn, was I happy that I just took a bite.
Aidan blows off the tiny piece of green on his chest and lightly smacks my butt, “You did good.”
“We’re not playing baseball.”
“Well, you did just hit a home run,” he said, raising his dark eyebrows up and down as he scooped me up with one arm until I was on top of him.
I can feel the blood rush to my cheeks. “Shut the fuck up. I hate you,” I giggled.
My elbows lean on the grass so I can play with his hair.
“Hate me?” he said as he gripped the back of my thighs. “That’s why you basically attacked me.”
“I didn’t see you pushing me away, but if you want me to leave . . .” I said arching my back to get off of his body.
Aidan grabs the back of my head and pulls me down until our lips almost touch. We’re so close that I can feel his breath on my mouth.
“Quit talking.”
This time, I didn’t kiss him first.
Buzz. Buzz. You have to be kidding me. My bottom lip is in between Aidan’s teeth. We stop. He grabs his phone.
“Is that her?” Already knowing the answer.
“She’s already called three times.”
“Cool.” I roll off of him looking around for my boy shorts. If I would’ve known someone was getting into my pants tonight, I would’ve brought out some lace. At least they weren’t grannies.
“Tia.”
I look down at him, “What?”
“I think I have to get it,” he said looking at me with those dark brown eyes.
“Whatever.”
And like that, the moment was gone. What was I thinking? He has a fucking girlfriend and she’s not me. If we didn’t finish that joint, I for sure would be taking another hit. I need another one to deal with this.
Aiden and I have been friends since freshman year of high school. He was annoyingly cute and annoyingly annoying. Examples? Loudly getting on hand and knee proposing in the middle of the hallway, surprise tickling until I ended up on the floor, and always attempting to lift my skirt. Everyone always questioned our friendship for flirt-ship. I guess they were right, except it only took 6 years to get here.
Aidan sits up and looks away from me as he talks into the phone, “Hello . . . chill . . . I was sleeping, my bad . . . you’re getting crazy again . . . Jenn, I’m not in the mood for this, I’m too tired for this shit . . . I’m gonna go . . . alright, okay, bye.”
“Sorry about that,” he said as he stood up.
“Yeah,” I said flatly as I walked away to grab my jacket while Aidan started to get dressed.
What did you just do tonight, Tia, Jesus? I look back to find him walking towards me zipping his jeans. He’s taken.
“Tia,” he goes to grab me, but I bend down and pick up his shirt and shove it to his chest.
“Here.”
“Can we talk about this?”
“What’s there to talk about?” I said shaking my head. “We smoked, had sex, and you have a girlfriend. Am I missing anything else?”
“It’s not like that.”
“Then what’s it like?”
“Fuck. I don’t know,” he scratches the back of his head, “I’m so confused.”
“Good answer,” I grab my wristlet off the ground.
“Don’t be like that. Tia, I’ve been with Jenn for three years. I’ve never cheated before. I don’t know what the fuck to do.”
Quickly I wrap my hair into a messy bun, “Well you should’ve thought about that before we fucked on the fucking golf course.”
“Hey, you’re the one who kissed me!”
“Are you seriously doing this?” now I’m getting angry, “you took my pants off!”
“I don’t know what you want me to do.”
“I don’t want you to do anything. You obviously thought this was a mistake.”
“I didn’t say that. It’s just . . . you’re my best friend and —”
I cut him off before he could say anymore, “Just stop. I’m over this, I’m going home.”
We are so past the friend’s zone, asshole.
“Are you really going to leave like this?”
“What’s the point in staying?” I start walking towards the open path that leads into Aidan’s back yard. “Go call your girlfriend.”
He doesn’t follow. Not that I want him to or anything. Or do I? This is too much to take in by myself. I need someone. Mel! I unzip my purse, grab my phone, and start typing with a quickness:
You know the deal. Delete after reading. Went on the g-course w/ Aidan. Smoked w/ A. Had sex w/ A. Emergency. On my way over. FUCK. Delete.
Mel’s my best friend for a reason—she responds to texts almost as soon as you send them.
Buzz: No words. Speed.
