Summary
Charlotte is back in Chicago. Artemis is healing, Dani is never far away, and A Cat’s Tale still smells like aged paper and vanilla. Everything Charlotte left behind is exactly where it should be, but she is still learning how to exist inside the quiet she fought so hard to get back. She checks the locks more than once and watches the door whenever the bell rings. Strangers came into the shop while she was gone, asking when she would return and whether she still lived upstairs, and Charlotte knows better than to dismiss questions like that as curiosity. Then her body starts behaving strangely. She sleeps longer than she normally does, familiar smells turn her stomach, and even her Earl Grey with vanilla suddenly smells wrong. Charlotte blames stress, exhaustion, trauma, the water, and eventually a defective filter because every explanation makes more sense than admitting she does not have one. Dani watches her do this for days before finally asking the question Charlotte has somehow avoided asking herself. “When was your last period, Char?”

Maggie Varnum: Like that it was fast paced and suspenseful...loved the romance up ended a little to fast ...would have been better if there was a Luna ceremony chapter and a birth of son with name chapter with Cole as a dramatic dad in the delivery scene .... Overall I enjoyed it very much!
