The Cursed Forest

Summary

No one entered Blackwood Forest after sunset because people believed an ancient spirit lived there. One evening, a brave girl named Elara decided to uncover the truth. Carrying only a lantern, she stepped into the dark woods. The trees whispered her name, and a cold wind extinguished her lantern. Strange glowing eyes appeared between the branches. Suddenly, a huge shadow with glowing blue eyes emerged. It was the Forest Guardian, a magical creature trapped by a terrible curse. The Guardian explained that an evil sorcerer had turned him into a monster centuries ago. The curse could only be broken if someone showed courage instead of fear. Although frightened, Elara stepped forward and placed her hand on the creature's head. A brilliant golden light spread through the forest. The shadow disappeared, revealing a noble guardian dressed in shining silver armor. The trees became green again, flowers bloomed, and birds filled the air with cheerful songs. The Guardian thanked Elara for her kindness and gave her a magical leaf that would protect her forever. From that day on, Blackwood Forest was no longer a place of terror. It became a land of wonder, reminding everyone that true bravery comes not from fighting monsters, but from showing compassion when others are afraid.

Chapter 1

For centuries, the villagers of Raven Hollow feared the forest that stretched beyond the northern hills. They called it The Cursed Forest. During the day it appeared peaceful, with tall pine trees, colorful wildflowers, and singing birds. But when the sun disappeared behind the mountains, everything changed. A thick silver mist covered the ground, the trees whispered in strange voices, and mysterious blue lights floated between the branches.

Many people believed the lights belonged to lost spirits searching for a way home. Others said a powerful monster lived in the heart of the forest, waiting for anyone brave enough to enter. No one dared to discover the truth.

Among the villagers lived a sixteen-year-old girl named Elara. Unlike everyone else, she loved exploring nature. She often sat near the edge of the forest, wondering why it had become cursed.

Her grandmother, the oldest person in the village, warned her again and again.

"Never enter the forest after sunset," she said. "Long ago, a wicked sorcerer named Morvain cursed the guardian of the forest. Since that night, darkness has ruled those woods."

Elara listened carefully, but curiosity continued to grow in her heart.

One evening, while walking near the forest, she discovered an injured white fox trapped beneath a fallen branch. As she lifted the heavy wood away, the fox stood up and looked into her eyes. Instead of running, it gently touched her hand before disappearing into the trees.

On the ground where it had stood lay a shining silver leaf.

As soon as Elara picked it up, a soft voice echoed in the wind.

"Come before the final moon rises..."

She looked around.

No one was there.

That night she could not sleep. The whisper repeated inside her mind until sunrise.

The following evening, carrying only a lantern, a small backpack, and the silver leaf, Elara stepped into the Cursed Forest.

The air instantly became colder.

The cheerful sounds of birds vanished.

Towering trees blocked the moonlight, and twisted roots stretched across the path like giant snakes.

Hours passed.

Suddenly, dozens of glowing blue lights surrounded her.

She froze.

The lights circled slowly before floating deeper into the forest.

Gathering her courage, Elara followed.

The lights led her to an ancient stone bridge crossing a dark river. The water reflected no stars, only darkness.

As she crossed, the bridge trembled beneath her feet.

Halfway across, a deep growl echoed through the valley.

A massive black wolf emerged from the mist.

Its eyes glowed red, and shadows flowed around its body like smoke.

Elara held her lantern tightly.

The wolf slowly approached.

Just as it prepared to leap, the silver leaf in her pocket burst into brilliant golden light.

The wolf stopped.

It lowered its head respectfully before vanishing into the mist.

Elara realized the leaf was protecting her.

Beyond the bridge stood enormous stone gates covered with glowing symbols.

The gates opened by themselves.

Inside lay the forgotten heart of the forest.

Ruined towers stood among giant trees.

Broken statues were covered in moss.

A beautiful crystal lake shimmered beneath the moonlight.

At its center stood a lonely castle wrapped in twisting vines.

As Elara walked toward it, she noticed something strange.

The statues looked frightened.

Each one seemed frozen while trying to escape.

Then she understood.

They had once been people.

A cold shiver ran through her body.

The castle doors slowly creaked open.

Inside, the halls were silent except for dripping water.

Ancient paintings covered the walls.

One painting showed a noble knight dressed in silver armor, standing beside animals and magical creatures.

Another showed the same knight battling a man dressed in black robes.

At the bottom of the painting was a faded name:

Guardian Orion.

Another name appeared beneath the dark figure.

Morvain.

Before Elara could examine the paintings further, footsteps echoed through the castle.

Heavy.

Slow.

Closer.

A towering figure stepped from the shadows.

Its body was covered in bark, vines, and dark thorns.

Its glowing emerald eyes watched Elara silently.

She remembered every frightening story told in the village.

The Forest Monster.

But instead of attacking, the creature spoke in a calm, sorrowful voice.

"You carry the Silver Leaf."

Elara nodded.

"Who are you?"

The creature closed its eyes.

"I was once Orion, Guardian of this forest."

He looked toward the broken ceiling where moonlight entered the hall.

"Until Morvain cursed me."

Tears filled Elara's eyes.

"You aren't the monster..."

Orion smiled sadly.

"No."

"I have been protecting these woods for five hundred years."

He pointed toward the statues outside.

"Those people ignored every warning. They came seeking treasure, not knowing the curse turns greedy hearts into stone."

Before Elara could reply, the entire castle shook violently.

A deafening laugh echoed through every room.

Dark clouds gathered above the towers.

The air became icy.

Orion's face turned pale.

"He has awakened."

"Who?"

Orion looked directly into Elara's eyes.

"Morvain."

Outside, the ground cracked open.

Black smoke rose into the night sky.

Somewhere deep within the forest, a pair of glowing crimson eyes slowly opened.

The curse had begun to spread once again.
