Chapter 1: The Courthouse
Ty “Turbo” Knight and Brunhilde “Brunie” Eule find themselves in the courthouse area near the marketplace of 14th century Xanadu, controlled by the Mongols. Tyler is doing his best trying to outwit someone like Madame Jie who always seems to be one step ahead of them in causing trouble. Meanwhile; Mu and Chao do their best to rally the Mongolian-Chinese soldiers trying to figure out where they went after the episode in the temple.
“Where could they have gone?” asked Mu, “the marketplace would be one place for them to hide.”
“Oh, I know, the courthouse, they have to be in the courthouse, I’m sure of it!” cried Chao.
Chao Jun was certain they were there.
“We can’t just barge in the middle of the night like that” continued Mu.
“But you’re the one with authority, you can do whatever you please” continued Chao.
“Yeah, I know” replied Mu, “but it’s not that simple. There are rules, and I still have to follow them even with a probable cause.”
Chao shook his head, he couldn’t believe Mu cared more about doing the proper way of investigating the courthouse. That only managed to buy Tyler and Brunie time. The two were in the judge’s chamber doing their best trying to hide.
“We can’t just hide here all evening, we have to get out” continued Brunie.
“Not while the Mongolian-Chinese soldiers are searching the marketplace” replied Ty, “we’ll be sitting ducks.”
Brunie rolled her eyes, she couldn’t believe what a big mess she had gotten herself into. If it were not for her stupid urges.
“I just have to figure out a way to make up for all of this” thought Brunie.
As for Madame Jie, she managed to slip her civilian disguise for her Celestial Ninja disguise slipping right into the courthouse unsee. It was easier for her to do this than to just outright barge in.
“Yes, this is much easier” thought Madame Jie, “now to figure out where they went.”
But as Madame Jie did her best – temptation struck her – the orphan records, the very records she had been searching for was where she broke into.
“The mission” thought Madame Jie, “but Tyler and Brunie.”
Madame Jie found herself stuck in a hard place in terms on figuring out what to do next. She could go after Tyler and Brunie – but then maybe she should just let Mu and Chao finish the job for her instead. She decided to think for a moment as she found a secluded place to meditate to the Wise One.
“Yes Madame Jie, you’ve summoned me?” asked the Wise One.
“I need guidance, I found the orphan records but that Ty “Turbo” Knight and Brunie are meddling into my affairs” continued Madame Jie.
The Wise One thought hard on this – it would be reckless for him to just dive right into this by sending any given ninja. Then – the Wise One thought of one Celestial Ninja that did have a grudge against the Mongols – Sofiya Savin who had been rescued as a child in the same century and had become an adult ready for action. The Wise One knew this would be best left for someone like her to handle Tyler and Brunie as bait against the Mongols.
