Summary

Xu Yung has always believed that life is easier when everything has a plan. At twenty-one, she leaves the fast-paced world of Shanghai and arrives at Yunnan Agricultural University, expecting nothing more than a fresh academic chapter and a chance to build a future on her own terms. Instead, she meets Lu Zhang. Twenty-year-old Lu Zhang is everything she isn't—carefree where she's cautious, untamed where she's controlled, and deeply connected to the tea mountains of his hometown, Molie Village. Their first meeting is far from romantic. Then a university tea project forces them to work together. What begins with arguments over tea leaves slowly becomes friendship. Long days of fieldwork become quiet conversations. And somewhere between the misty mountains, ancient tea traditions, and the warmth of ordinary village life, Xu Yung begins seeing the person hidden beneath Lu Zhang's easy smile. But Lu Zhang has secrets of his own. The seemingly simple young man she met among the tea fields is connected to Jia Lan Shan Ying, a successful high-mountain tea enterprise he secretly built himself. Behind his peaceful life lies a complicated family, a difficult past, and a future he refuses to let anyone else choose for him. As their worlds begin to intertwine, Xu Yung must face her own questions about family, ambition, and the life she truly wants. Because sometimes love doesn't ask you to abandon your dreams. Sometimes it teaches you how to finally choose them. Among Shanghai's restless streets and Yunnan's endless tea mountains, two people from different worlds will learn that growing up isn't about leaving your roots behind. It's about discovering where you truly belong. 🍵 A story of tea, family, dreams, healing, and a slow-blooming love. When autumn sunlight meets the spring wind, perhaps even the quietest dreams can bloom. 🌸

Athuor note & Meet the Cast

🍂☀️ BEFORE CHAPTER 1 — MEET THE CAST

A Little Note Before We Begin…

Hi, my lovely readers! 👋🤍

Welcome to An Autumn Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills’ Dreams. 🍂☀️🌬️🌸

Before we begin Chapter 1, I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to the world we’re about to enter—and the people who will slowly make it feel like home.

This story is something very special to me.

I wanted to create a romance that wasn’t only about falling in love. I wanted to build a story around tea culture, tradition, university life, family, dreams, nature, and the quiet process of growing up. 🍵🌿

While planning stories for Inkitt, I noticed that I rarely came across this particular combination—a traditional tea-culture setting mixed with a contemporary college romance and a meaningful coming-of-age journey.

So I thought…

Why not create one?

And that’s how this story was born. 🌸

I took inspiration from the beauty of Chinese tea culture and traditions, real landscapes, university life, and the emotional atmosphere I love in Chinese dramas. But this story, its characters, relationships, scenes, and journey are being created as our own original story.

I want Yunnan to feel like more than a location.

I want its mountains to breathe.

I want the tea fields to hold memories.

I want the traditions to have meaning.

And most importantly, I want our characters to change because of the journey, not simply because the plot tells them to.

🌿 MEET THE CAST

👩 Xu Yung — 21

Our main female lead. 🍂

A university student from Shanghai who is intelligent, independent, ambitious, and a little guarded.

Vibe: 🐈‍⬛ Grumpy black cat

She’s used to having a plan.

Yunnan is about to teach her that life doesn’t always follow one.

👨 Lu Zhang — 20

Our main male lead. ☀️

A young man from Molie Village, Yunnan, deeply connected to the mountains and tea.

Vibe: ☀️ Golden retriever sunshine

He appears carefree and simple—but there is far more to him than Xu Yung initially realizes.

And yes…

There is a secret behind that smile. 👀🍵

👩 Xu Chen — 19

Xu Yung’s younger sister. 🌸

Lively, warm, and youthful, she brings a different kind of energy to the Xu family.

👨 Lu Dawei — 24

Lu Zhang’s older brother. 🌿

Mature, dependable, protective, and deeply connected to his family and Molie Village.

Xu Chen × Lu Dawei will have their own story alongside our main couple. 💕

👩 Lu Yuan — 17–18

Lu Zhang’s younger sister. 🌱

Bright, affectionate, and observant.

She knows her brothers better than they sometimes realize. 😂

👨 Lu Yining

Lu Zhang’s father.

A complicated figure whose relationship with Lu Zhang is shaped by family history, expectations, and old conflicts.

👩 He Yuxi

Lu Zhang’s mother.

Warm and perceptive, with a deeper understanding of her son’s heart than he often expects.

👩 Xu Sheng

Xu Yung’s mother.

Practical and protective, she has her own ideas about what kind of future her daughter should have.

👵 Xu Zhiqiu

Xu Yung’s grandmother. 🌸

A quiet connection to family roots, memory, and traditional wisdom.

Sometimes the person who says the least understands the most.

👨 Su Cheng

Lu Zhang’s senior at university.

Experienced, reliable, and someone who knows Lu Zhang’s world better than most.

👩 Shen Ji Ah

University professor.

A mentor who helps guide the students through their academic and tea-related journey.

👩 Xie Xuan

A Jinuo student and tea apprentice. 🍃

Through her, Xu Yung and Lu Zhang gain a deeper perspective on local tea traditions and the people who keep them alive.

👨 Fan Jiangxi

A talented tea-competition rival.

Competitive, ambitious, and determined to prove himself.

Not every rival has to be a villain. Sometimes competition simply shows us what we’re capable of becoming.

🍵 WHAT MAKES THIS STORY DIFFERENT?

This isn’t just:

Girl meets boy. → They fall in love. → The End.

It’s about the journey between those moments.

🎓 College life🍵 Tea culture🌿 Yunnan traditions🏡 Family📷 Art & storytelling💭 Dreams❤️ Slow-burn love🌱 Growing into yourself

And throughout the story, tea becomes a quiet metaphor for life:

Some things need heat. Some need patience. Some need time. And some things become more beautiful only after they’ve been allowed to grow naturally.

💌 ONE LAST THING BEFORE CHAPTER 1…

I don’t want you to simply read this story.

I want you to experience the journey with them.

Notice the little details.

The tea leaves.

The mountain wind.

The silences between conversations.

The places they visit.

The things they don’t say.

And the moments when they slowly become different people from the ones we meet in Chapter 1.

Because sometimes the smallest moments become the ones we remember.

💬 NOW I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Before you start Chapter 1, answer in the comments:

🌸 1. Which character are you most excited to meet?

🍵 2. What do you think Lu Zhang’s secret is?

👀 3. What is your first impression of Xu Yung?

💕 4. Are you here for Xu Yung × Lu Zhang, Xu Chen × Lu Dawei, or BOTH?

🌿 5. Have you ever read a college romance centered around tea culture and traditional Chinese landscapes before?

☀️ And finally…

What do you think will happen when the autumn sun meets the spring wind?

Tell me your theories below. 👀🍂☀️

Chapter 1 begins now.

Welcome to Molie Village.

Welcome to the tea mountains.

Welcome to their story.

Let’s begin. 🍵🌿📖
