Character Info

Kayla Jax
Age: 26
Profession: Medical student currently drowning in gross anatomy flashcards and clinical rotations.
Personality: Pragmatic, intensely cynical about supernatural destiny, and fiercely protective of her really terrible study habits. She prefers concrete medical literature, cold logic, and schedules that actually function. The anchor of sheer realism. She refuses to accept magical decrees from celestial goddesses and responds to apex predators with heavy textbooks and deadpan sarcasm.
She holds a personal grudge against a specific vending machine in the campus library because it once stole her last dollar and kept a bag of peanut butter crackers hostage right before a sixteen-hour pathology shift.
Her apartment contains exactly fourteen different mugs, twelve of which were stolen from hospital breakrooms over the years.
She possesses a terrible habit of stress-baking banana bread whenever a gross anatomy exam approaches, resulting in a freezer packed with dense yellow bricks that even the campus squirrels refuse to eat.

Lincoln Marx
Age: 32 (Supernatural equivalent)
Title: Alpha of the Willow Peak Pack, an apex predator accustomed to absolute obedience and brutal territory management.
Personality: Stoic, rigid, and deeply burdened by pack politics. Beneath his terrifying alpha exterior lies total vulnerability regarding a fated mate who smells like coffee and refuses to be impressed by his intimidation tactics. The predator forced to learn patience. He must win over a human who filters out magic through sheer stubbornness, realizing true love requires genuine choice rather than a cosmic command.
He maintains a secret collection of vintage pocket watches that he repairs by hand using microscopic tools during long pack council meetings when Elara starts talking too much.
Despite being an apex predator who commands forty wolves, he is completely defeated by modern plastic packaging on children’s toys and once ripped a kitchen drawer completely off its tracks trying to open a jar of peanut butter without waking Kayla up.
He secretly listens to local morning traffic reports on the radio just to judge commuters who drive ten miles under the speed limit in the fast lane.

Jamie
Age: 26
Profession: Retail manager with an affinity for glitter jackets and true crime podcasts.
Personality: Bubbly, chaotic, and chronically incapable of keeping secrets. She drags Kayla into the woods under false pretenses to stalk her shifter boyfriend.
She owns a rescue Chihuahua named Sir Paws-a-Lot who wears a tiny matching neon pink windbreaker whenever she takes him out for morning walks.
She once tried to dye her own hair neon blue at three in the morning using a YouTube tutorial and ended up staining the bathroom porcelain Smurf blue.
She keeps an emergency stash of Funyuns hidden inside her hollowed-out dictionary because she knows Kayla will throw away any junk food she finds in the pantry.

Marcus
Age: 28
Profession: Beta-level pack enforcer and Silas’s nephew.
Personality: Earnest, slightly awkward, and terrible at keeping secrets. He once bent a metal fork in half at a taco truck because the salsa was too spicy, which forced him to confess his shifter nature on a third date.
He accidentally adopted a feral raccoon he mistook for a stray hairless cat during a late-night patrol of the pack perimeter, naming it “Sir Reginald” and attempting to feed it artisanal cheese slices before it climbed his back and tore his favorite flannel shirt to shreds.
He has a deep, irrational fear of automatic hand dryers in public restrooms and will dry his hands entirely on his jeans rather than press the button.
He practices romantic comedy movie lines in the mirror while brushing his teeth, which explains why he once asked Jamie if she wanted to split a basket of mozzarella sticks with the intensity of a Shakespearean actor.
About the story:
Kayla Jax has a really simple philosophy. If something cannot be identified under a compound microscope, it probably does not exist. Medical school demands complete devotion to human anatomy, not ancient prophecies or glowing silver eyes in dark parking lots. Unfortunately, a midnight festival in a municipal park introduces her to Lincoln Marx. He is an apex pack Alpha who looks like a thunderstorm wrapped in charcoal wool and acts like he owns every single molecule of oxygen in the valley.
Lincoln’s wolf decides Kayla is his fated mate right away. Kayla decides Lincoln is a heavily armed stalker who needs a really long time-out. When rogue mercenaries crash her boring urban existence with assault rifles and bad attitudes, Kayla discovers her mundane life involves a lot more fur and fangs than she ever bargained for. Now she has to survive an anatomy midterm, dodge political assassination attempts, and convince a territorial predator that human hearts do not come with an instruction manual.
