His Origin

In the midst of recovery from the World War II of the historic town of Kiangan... Baguinge remained quiet and traditionally tied to its culture and heritage, atop one of its mountainous lands lies a bountiful coffee farm, rice terraces and farm animals known to the Mighty Bulayo --- son of Buhag and Malayyo. It was also where he built a house for his wife, Casilda, to start a family of their own. Bulayo, born with a green thumb and unlikely skills, was truly generous to everyone that made him to be a greatly known Ifugao man during his time.

On the third day of January 1949, the couple was blessed... a brave cry brought out a new life into their world and marked the birth of their first born, a baby boy. The Eldest Child... the First Son...

Day by day, the First Son was growing into a strong and witty lad... spending some time with his father on the mountains, walking through the slopes going to and from school and mostly, looking after his siblings when both parents were not home. On his idle times, this young cunning lad goes out with his seemingly naughty cousins to roam around the mountain slopes or just running along the rice paddy bund until the sunset, but he must be home before his father otherwise, he will have to sleep on a tree branch.

Added to the couple were two sons and three daughters... making them a big family of eight. Five younger siblings whom the First Son needed to look after. The second child, a baby girl was born after two years, followed by the third child, a baby boy, in another two years and in the next three years they welcomed another daughter and another girl again, on the second year. The First Son was already twelve years old when the youngest child, the sixth, another baby boy was born into their family.

The family lived a life beyond normal, being their patriarch was a man of his own... But not until that afternoon.... when a tragedy created chaos in the peaceful boundaries of their family home... What the First Son, at barely seventeen, could have thought to hide safe and secure his siblings with him inside their house, when at that time with him also was the Sixth Child who was only five then, and just outside the door of their house, were the rummaging sounds trying to break through and banging on the walls that seem to tear down their house... cries of a mighty warrior were heard... several men were attacking their father with their bolos... The First Son, at that time, wanted to save his father being ganged up, but in his thoughts, he could not just leave behind his siblings... he had to hide them in silence so that none of those men would know, they were there and witnessed their crime... fearing for their lives would be also endangered by their wraths... the mighty Bulol and their ancestors protected the bulayyo children… hidden among the farm animals.

The once bountiful land where his father had built their house, had become bloodied everywhere... every drop and splatter of their father's blood remained bleeding for justice...
