1: Building of Dreams
7-22-26
Light shines like
a million stars
from a building
made from dreams
I spread my wings
I think of things
what will we find
In that building
of dreams?
We run inside
me and my people
manticores, creatures
of fantasy
dangerous but beautiful
I run between
walls of things
hiding from the
prying eyes
Of strange people
and creatures
alike
A man made
of wrath and
hate chases me
away from that
building of dreams
He chases me
deep into the
forest of dark things
a place void of
light and life
I run up a tree
cowering in fear of
that man-made
hate
I feel my body
shift, into the
shape of a tree
a large Willow,
weeping, looking
down on the man
He now has
also transformed
he is a beautiful
prince charming
glowing with
charm and kindness
I can see my people
I can see all
I can see everything
that building of dreams
is so small beneath me
now
There is a large fountain
beneath my sweeping boughs
where my prince charming visits
me
every once in a while
One day he stops visiting
I wait
I wait
the seasons change
the fountain water flows
so sweet
he never comes
back
I feel my limbs
bend, my trunk
break
like my heart
deep inside
The world grows dark
the fountain black
the twinkling lights
of that building of dreams
fading into the distance
but a distant memory
a dream within
a fantasy
