Chapter 1

Taylorsville’s News Channel 6 reporting live with Dana, “Good morning we are currently located on highway 16 where the body of a woman was discovered early this morning. There is no identity of the woman and the police do not know if this was an accident, or if foul play was involved. A trunk driver reported he was driving on his normal route when he noticed someone lying on the roadside curve just up ahead, where the police have blocked off the area right behind me. The truck driver said he did not see any vehicles in the area at the time; and he was wondering if they needed help, or if it was a drifter. He saw the body as he approached and noticed it was a woman’s body, and that the woman did not have any clothing on; and when he got no reply, he called the police. The police are asking anyone with any information to come forward or call the Taylorsville’s police helpline. That is all we have for now, but we will update this story when more information is available. This is Dana reporting live with Taylorsville’s News Channel 6.”

CHAPTER1

Amelia had seen the house online and she had fallen in love with the house. She had been searching for months for a place to move into, for she was ready to get on her own. Amelia had been living with her mom for the past year ever since she had broken it off with her ex-boyfriend. Her mother had been on her back ever since she came back home and reminding her on and off about her them no good men, as she would say. Amelia’s mom had told her over and over, “I told you, he was not going to be a good man”, she would say. “Honey, I told you got to look pass their eyes, smile, and read them lies! That’s all they do is tell lie after lie every day.” Amelia’s mom had a hard time believing in men, since her second husband had got caught cheating on her, just like Amelia’s dad who ran off with another woman when she only 8 years old. Amelia could not be mad at her mom for wanting what was best for her, but she was so tired of hearing about her mistakes with her ex all the time. Every time she told her mom she was going out with her friend, her mom would tell her “Do not be hooking up with those no-good men like Kurt, they just going to bring you down. They look at you only for what they see, that is your look and body, and when they know that they have your heart, they just going to piss all over it. With the curves you have, that is what most of those no-good men are looking for and looking at. A man, I tell you will lose all his sense when he sees a body honey”! Amelia believed her because she always had gotten asked out but was too distraught and scared to date anyone for a while. For she had seen her mom cry too many tears growing up over her dad and stepdad. Even though it was easy for Amelia to get attention whenever she walked in a room, and it did not help with Amelia always wearing clothes that fit her curves and with her beautiful light brown round face, hazel eyes, and thick coiled hair to go with it. Amelia’s last weight was 158lbs she recalled, and she was only 5ft’4in tall at her last appointment. She had gained 12lbs since her breakup “whew” she thought to herself.  Before Amelia met Kurt, she had come to accept her beauty and she had loved to dress up to express herself. She had stop caring whether others would like it or not, until she met Kurt. The things her mom said was right, and she believed it played a big part of the jealously her ex- Kurt had grown for her over the years when they were together. They were happy she thought hoping it would last forever, “what was I thinking” Amelia said to herself while turning on the signal light to her black Honda Accord, to merge onto the highway. Thinking about her relationship with him made her happy for her escape and somewhat sadden her, as she drove down to Taylorsville to meet with the realtor. The wind was blowing as she let down the window, and she could feel the breeze blowing through her hair. She had just gotten her hair fixed two days ago and she loved her new hairstyle. She had gotten some flat twists in the top and some loose curls in the back, for her hair was naturally coiled. Amelia’s mom used to do her hair like this when she was a little girl, but now she would not dare ask her mom to do her hair for her. Amelia’s mother had hurt her left hand at work years ago, which resulted in her having two surgeries on her hand. So, she had tried to do her hair herself, but she did not get the same look as her mom, and she did not realize how hard it was to twist her own hair. It was a little after 9:30am and she was meeting the realtor at 11:30am, so she knew she had to push it since she had overslept as well. Amelia would get there at 11:25am was what her GPS was predicting, she could live with that she thought to herself. As she was going down the road, she had gotten the butterflies feeling deep within her stomach, that would not let her calm her nerves. Amelia remembers looking at the house on the internet and she could not believe that she could afford such a big spacious beautiful house. She had previous contacted the bank to put in for a mortgage loan, and she had gotten the approval for a house loan; all Amelia had to do now was to find her a home and she did. It had taken her awhile to get her credit high enough to apply; she recalled the many times she would check and how disappointed she would be after. The bank had approved her credit and told her the amount that she was approved, and this home fell right into her budget!

“The Father works wonders she said to herself”. Amelia loved everything about it and seen that it had been listed for 1 week, boy was she glad she saw it. Amelia had contacted the realtor as soon as she saw the pictures and set up an appointment to view the house. She had to be backed at work the following morning, so she had to hurry up and get there so she could get back in time for some sleep. Amelia job had let her switch schedule with another employee, which was a good friend of hers named Ashley, so she could make the appointment. Ashley did not mind it at all because she would have three days off, and Amelia would have to work an extra day before being off. Amelia had loved her career as a nurse, but she did not expect it to be so difficult. It was hard watching so many different people struggle with so many illnesses at times. Some would be in so much pain that they would be moaning and groaning as they were waiting to be seen; it was a horrible feeling to experience. Amelia felt so bad for them, wanting to just give them something for the pain, but it would cost her job. They never seem to have an empty waiting room, “I guessed that’s what living in the city was like for hospitals, she thought. The home she wanted was in a smaller community in South Carolina and she wonder what their hospitals was like. She had search for a replacement job after she had found the house and saw a few openings that she would qualify for. She would miss her job and friends in Georgia if she did decide to take the house. The house was made up of bricks and it had two spacious bedrooms, 2 decent bathrooms, and beautiful hardwood floors throughout the house. The kitchen had been renovated with nice marble countertops with a white subway tile backlash. The windows were big and did let in plenty of sunlight all through the house and it had a deck built on to it making it even more desirable. The yard was big, even too big for her to keep up she thought, “I would have to find someone to keep it cut because it won’t be me” she laughed to herself. She turned up the radio as she continued her trip, thinking about the new journey she was about to begin.
