Aarav's brows drew together slightly. "Then you should also know that I cannot promise affection or the kind of marriage most people expect. My work will always come first, and I don't intend to change the life I have built."
Tanya tilted her head slightly before asking with quiet curiosity, "Are you trying to warn me or convince yourself?"
For the first time, Aarav looked directly into her eyes. "I am giving you a chance to walk away before it's too late."
Tanya laughed softly, the sound surprisingly light in the heavy silence between them. "Mr. Singh, if I wanted an easy husband, I would have chosen someone else."
Aarav remained expressionless. "You will regret this decision."
Tanya smiled even brighter. "Maybe. But I'd rather regret trying than spend my life wondering what could have been."
Silence settled between them. After a long moment, Aarav spoke without looking at her. "Don't expect anything from me."
Tanya nodded without the slightest disappointment. "Then I will expect nothing. Except one thing."
Aarav finally looked at her again."What?"
Tanya's smile widened. "One day, I will make you smile because of me."
Aarav didn't reply. He simply walked past her without another word.
Tanya watched him leave, her smile never fading. "Challenge accepted, Mr. Singh," she whispered to herself.
