Chapter 1

The clock on the wall struck 3:15 AM.

The rest of Silicon Valley was fast asleep, wrapped in the quiet California fog. But inside a cramped, messy garage in Palo Alto, the neon blue light from three monitors illuminated Ryan’s exhausted face.

His eyes were bloodshot. Empty pizza boxes and half-finished energy drink cans littered the floor. For the last eighteen months, this garage had been his entire world. He had sacrificed his sleep, his social life, and every single penny of his savings for one wild, impossible dream.

“Just one more line,” Ryan muttered to himself, his fingers flying across the mechanical keyboard.

He was building Aether—an AI-driven interface that could predict market crashes before they even happened. Everyone he knew had called him crazy. His professors at Stanford told him it was a mathematical impossibility. Investors laughed him out of their offices.

But Ryan knew he was on the verge of something that would change the tech world forever.

With a deep breath, he hit the ‘Enter’ key to run the final script. The monitors went completely black.

One second. Two seconds. Three seconds.

“Come on, please work,” he whispered, holding his breath.

Suddenly, the screens didn’t flash with code. Instead, a clean, silver interface opened up, and a single notification popped up on the top right corner:

Compilation Successful. Global Network Connected.

Before Ryan could even smile, his phone began to vibrate violently on the desk. It wasn’t a call. It was a restricted, encrypted message from an unknown billionaire venture capitalist.

The message read: I know what you just built, Ryan. Don’t trust anyone. They are already coming for it.

AlyKeller: I really enjoy this story and love the main character. Although it took a while for them to meet, their love story is captivating. Hecate serves as the mother she never knew.
