The wall was covered with photographs.

Hundreds of them.

Every single one belonged to the same girl.

A girl who once believed every beautiful moment deserved to be remembered.

Some were small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. Others were large, their corners carefully pressed against the wall with tiny pieces of transparent tape.

The same bright eyes.

The same carefree smile.

But every photograph told a different story.

In one photograph, she was drenched in Holi colours, laughing so hard that she could barely keep her balance while her friends pointed their cameras at her.

In another, she stood on the edge of a mountain, her arms spread wide, letting the cold wind play with her hair.

One captured her sitting on the floor, surrounded by puppies that refused to leave her lap.

Another showed her stealing a piece of cake before the birthday candles had even been blown out.

There were hundreds of photographs.

Hundreds of memories.

Hundreds of moments that looked too happy to ever disappear.

And somehow...

Avni adjusted the strap of her bag and smiled as she looked through the photographs she had clicked that afternoon.

She stopped at one picture and laughed.

"I really need to stop making this face," she whispered to herself.

The traffic signal turned green.

She slipped her phone into her bag and began crossing the road.

A bike slowed to avoid a puddle.

At the same moment, Avni lost her balance for a second.

Before she could fall, someone caught her arm......"You, okay?" a calm voice asked.

She looked up.

A young man stood in front of her, concern written across his face.

"I'm fine," she said with an embarrassed laugh, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Thank you."

"No problem."

For a brief second, they smiled politely at each other.

Then they walked away in opposite directions.

Just another ordinary meeting...or so it seemed.

Neither of them knew that, a year later, the same photographs that captured her happiness would become the only evidence of what happened to her.
