Two Boys , Two Worlds
Story
---
Nicolas sat in his room, the glow of his iPad reflecting in his restless eyes.
Aunt May’s voice carried from the kitchen, sharp and weary, reminding him yet again to put the device away.
He ignored her, as he always did, scrolling through endless videos while his mind wandered to battles of the past and stories of warriors.
Nicolas loved history, but he never obeyed. His mother was gone, taken by a cruel accident, and May, her sister, was the only one left to care for him, though her patience was tested daily. At school he fought with classmates, wasted food without a thought, and disobeyed her at every turn.
Yet behind Nicolas’s disobedience lay a darker truth. His father, selfish and consumed by greed, had long been estranged from the family. Most of his late wife’s assets had been transferred to Nicolas, leaving May with only her house and a few properties.
To gain control of the inheritance, Nicolas’s father devised a plan: if he could claim custody of his son, the wealth would fall into his hands. But since Nicolas avoided him, the father sent his own brother to feign affection and manipulate the boy. The uncle’s false kindness was transparent, and Nicolas recoiled from him, clinging instead to May, who loved him fiercely despite his flaws.
Far away, in another age, Alvin lived in a village plagued by famine and bandit raids. His uncle Sebastian, a hardened military man, bore the burden of leadership.
Alvin’s parents had died in a fire, leaving him frail with a heart condition but gifted with a sharp mind. He obeyed Sebastian without question, offering ideas to protect the village. Where Nicolas was rebellious, Alvin was dutiful.
Two boys. Two worlds. Both thirteen. Both bound by fate.
