Chapter 1
Nancy's Pov
A bright summer day as usual. Every summer somehow the heat keeps on increasing in Meandrin.
No wonder very few people know this place.It's just a small town in the country side, far away from the busy life in New York. New York is best if you really want to escape , but here you live close to nature.
Honestly I hate the summer here but thankfully by this weekend summer holidays will start in university.
No lectures for some days. Finally today's lecture is over but I was in professor's lab for submitting my assistant after deadline, so everyone already left the room. Well I don't care it's been happening every month. I'm too used to it that it will shock me more than anyone if I ever completed my assistant before deadline. All I care about is getting the free sandwich from cafeteria. It's not extraordinary but they add as much cheese as you want . One of the benefit you get for living near countryside, and cherry on top it's homemade not processed one.
Sam Pov
Mihir was telling about his new music video as always. I see Nancy holding her sandwich looking for something. I know what she's looking for , us of course. I shouted at her and wave my hand -
Sam - "Hey! Nancy here" .
She is again coming from professor's lab twice in this month. But she is unbothered as always.
Well we all are university students , and some of us don't know why we choose this course except Natasha . She is just a bookworm, imagine someone reading about those worms from zoology text book while eating. Yaaa! That's her , she is truly amazing I swear!
Well you are right we are friends or say a it's our group of five where we judge everyone except us. But truth is each one of us should be studied instead of those creature in the book. I have never seen most of them. It's just I choose this course rendomly cuz my father is a surgeon and that's what he wants me to be. But no way , I ended up here anyway.
Nancy - "What you guys were talking about ?"
Sam - "Nothing new , just Mihir's new music video."
Nancy - "Ohhh! So you are finally uploading it? Let me know when you do I would love to give it a shot."
Mihir - "Well I'm still working on the guitar part so I'm not sure when but may be next week."
Adi - "You really want to do music?
Mihir - "Why do you always doubt me! . Said looking at Adi."
Adi rolled his eyes and said - "Just curious."
Natasha - "Well if you all are done on this topic. I was thinking of doing group study on summer holidays. How about that?"
Adi - "Not interested. Enjoy yourself."
Nancy - "Well spending our first summer holidays together sounds good but not really looking forward to spend my precious Holidays with those creatures."
Sam - "Well I'm spending time with Bruzo. He's all alone these days."( Bruzo Sam's pet dog since middle school , his mother gifted him on his birthday)
Adi - "I thought you leave him with your parents."
Sam - "Naaaaaa! They don't have time for me forget about a pet."
Adi - "Well they are surgeons after all"
Mihir - "That's the great part actually , you can invest money in my music Sam." Said it a joking way
Sam - "Sorry I don't do losing deals" to teas him."
Mihir - "My music is not a losing deal. You will regret later." Rolled his eyes away from sam
Nancy - "Okay okay enough of it. I have an amazing plan."
Adi - "What's new now?"
Nancy - "Have you heard about the Helix Hollow?"
Natasha - "The forest nearby couryside and those tails about the forest?"
Adi - "Don't tell me you guys actually buy those stories."
Mihir - "You don't Adi ?"
Adi - "Why should I , these things happen only in stories."
Sam - "But I have heard people saying if someone goes there he never come back except for a man but after that he never talked to anyone."
Mihir - "You mean that baker on the end of the town."
Natasha - "My mother told me once that before a baker he was working for years in abroad as a - researcher but end up like this."
Adi - "Well my grandfather told me that it's because he was doing some research on that forest but it fail so all his money was gone , he couldn't pay off his debts and lost his job too."
Sam - "Ahhhh ! That too dramatic too happened but see he was doing research on that forest so basically there is something. And as zoology students should not we go see what what creatures live there."
Mihir - "Aren't you the one who said you really don't like this course."
Adi - "He is just escaping from his father. Sounds not bad but should we really? Like we are not some scientists and we are just in first year."
Natasha - "That should not be a problem we can just explore and see how many of those we know and what's new to us."
Nancy - "It sounds like a perfect trip for holidays we can take pictures of those different creatures. And I will flex it to professor."
Mihir - "He really doesn't care Nancy about what you do. Also I have to work on music but it's too adventurous to deny. ( Look at Adi )"
Adi - "I don't know. We might just sleep and enjoy the holidays instead of going to a forest. Plus who knows if it's dangerous."
Sam - "We just live once so we should take the risk , it will be fun"
Mihir - "So by your theory should not we live long and peacefully then roaming around creatures who see us as delicious food coming too them."
Natasha - "Not all creatures are sitting there to eat you. They can feel you , if you don't harm them then they also don't."
Nancy - "We can just go , see if we find anything take pictures of them and just leave. If you want we will not go too deep inside the forest."
Natasha - "Well I'm in."
Mihir - "Okayy then I will also go."
Adi - "So , do I have an option?"
Nancy - "not really." Said while smirking
Sam - "Okay so let go day after vacation starts and stay atleast a week"
Nancy - "Okayy let's meet at Adi's house."
Adi - "Okayy fine. Come to my place at around 12 till then grandpa will also be at home."
