When I first stepped onto the bus bound for Fort Leonard Wood in 2020, I had no idea that one day I would write a book about the journey.

Like many new Soldiers, I arrived believing I knew what the Army would demand of me. I quickly learned that becoming a Soldier was about far more than physical strength. It was about discipline, sacrifice, faith, perseverance, and discovering who I was when everything familiar had been stripped away.

Throughout my training, I kept a journal.

Every night, no matter how exhausted I was, I wrote about the events of the day. Sometimes I wrote only a few sentences. Other nights, I filled pages with everything I was thinking and feeling. At the time, I never imagined those pages would become the foundation of a book series.

Forged is based on those journals.

While the events, emotions, and experiences are rooted in my own military journey, this is a work of historical fiction. Names have been changed, conversations have been recreated, and some events have been expanded to provide a more immersive reading experience. The heart of the story, however, remains true to what I lived.

This series follows one Soldier’s journey-not because it is extraordinary, but because countless men and women have experienced similar struggles while answering the call to serve. My hope is that whether you’ve worn the uniform, know someone who has, or are simply curious about military life, you’ll find something meaningful within these pages.
