Chapter 01.Whispers on the past❄️
"Memories are not things that disappear with time... They are the things that continue to live with us as long as we are alive." 🌙

6:50 p.m.
The spacious living room of the mansion was filled with the peaceful silence of the morning.
Sitting on the floor, little Lily was completely focused on the drawing she was creating with her tiny fingers. The whole world around her seemed to disappear as she poured her little heart into the picture.
Sayash slowly walked down the stairs with a gentle smile on his face.
Watching the five-year-old child, he understood something he had never realized before — to truly understand the beautiful thoughts hidden inside Lily's little heart, he had to return to the innocence of childhood himself.
Carefully placing each step, he walked towards his little daughter and sat beside her on the floor.
His eyes remained fixed on her tiny face.
There were so many emotions hidden inside that little smile, emotions that he couldn't explain even to himself.
"She is just like you, Nuriya..."
That was the only thought that crossed his mind.
His heart was once again filled with countless memories — memories that could never be erased.
And when he remembered how everything that once felt like a beautiful dream had changed into a painful reality, a feeling of guilt slowly took over his heart.
A deep hatred towards himself surrounded Sayash.
"Papaa..."
That sweet little voice pulled him back from the painful memories into reality.
Those innocent eyes were looking at him again.
Those eyes filled with love and endless dreams.
Even if those beautiful dreams were now far away from him, memories continued to live beside him.
"Princess."
"Papa... what are you thinking about?"
"Nothing, princess."
Lily wanted to say something more, but her little tongue was still not able to form words quickly.
After staring at Sayash's face for a while, Lily pointed her tiny finger towards her drawing, trying to tell him something.
"Mama..."
"Who, sweetheart?"
"Ma... ma... Mama..."
Sayash's eyes moved towards the drawing.
For a moment, he couldn't understand what kind of feeling was rising inside his heart.
A small smile appeared on his lips as he lifted Lily into his arms.
But somewhere deep inside, he questioned where that smile came from.
Because he knew the truth.
It was a fake smile.
A small innocent lie he told every day — just because he couldn't bear to hurt his little Lily's heart.
"Hmm... is that so?"
"Ow... pretty?"
"Yes, sweetheart. It's very beautiful."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Why would I lie to my sweetheart?"
"Hmm... Papa..."
"Yes, my princess?"
"Are we not going to see Mama?"
Sayash's heart stopped for a moment.
But he hid his pain behind a gentle expression.
"We will go, sweetheart. We will go soon, okay?"
"Hmm..."
Sayash kissed Lily's cheek with endless love and care.
As if he was kissing a delicate little rose.
As if he was afraid that even a little pressure could hurt her.
"Excuse me, sir."
"Yeah, Shane?"
"Sir, you have a call."
"From whom?"
"Madam."
"Hmm... Okay, I'll talk. You can go now."
"Okay, sir."
After carrying Lily in his arms, Sayash walked towards the sofa and gently placed her on his lap.
📞📞📞
"Hello."
"Hello."
"Tell me, Amma."
"So... you don't remember me anymore, do you? I have to be the one to call you every time."
"Sorry, Amma. I was busy with a lot of work these past few days..."
"Oh, stop it, son. Do you think I don't know you? Every time, you say the same thing... 'I'm busy, I have too much work.'"
"It's not like that, Amma. What I mean is..."
"Sayash, be quiet and listen to me first."
"Hmm... tell me."
"First, tell me... is my little girl there with you?"
"Hmm... yes, she is."
"Is that so? Then I'll talk about those things later. Wait a little, I'll make a video call."
"Okay."
A few moments later, the phone screen lit up.
"Lily... where is my little girl? What is my sweetheart doing?"
"Granny..."
"Yes, my darling. Granny's little girl. Have you eaten yet?"
"Yes."
"Good girl. My sweet little one... aren't you coming to visit Granny?"
Lily looked at Sayash.
"Papa..."
"Tell her we will come, sweetheart."
"We will come..."
"Okay, my darling. Sayash..."
"Yes, Amma."
"What is that on the child's face? Did you buy her another makeup set? I already told you not to give those things to her."
"No, no. She was drawing. The colours got on her face."
"Is that so? My little girl was drawing?"
"Yes..."
"Send me a picture of her drawing, okay? Now go and take a bath, my sweetheart."
"Okay."
"Shane."
"Yes, sir."
"Take the baby to her room. Let her take a bath."
"Okay, sir."
Lily climbed down from Sayash's lap and held onto Shane's little finger with her tiny hand.
Together, they slowly walked upstairs.
"Sayash..."
"Amma, please say anything you want... but don't start talking about proposals."
"If you can't marry someone we choose for you, then at least find a good person and get married, Sayash."
"I am not saying this because you need a wife more than anything else...
I am saying this because that innocent child needs a mother."
"Amma... are you saying I can't take care of Lily?"
"Do you think I'm not a good father?"
"Child... understand what I'm saying."
"I don't mean that.
If you weren't a good father, Nuriya would never have trusted you with Lily's responsibility."
"Even if she had given you that responsibility, do you think she would have left Lily this happy and free?"
"She trusted you more than anyone else."
"Because she knew you were the only person who was truly capable of taking care of Lily."
"I can do this alone, Amma."
"I know, son."
"But Lily is a little girl."
"She needs a mother's love for the life ahead of her."
"I understand you, Sayash."
"But just once again..."
Sayash closed his eyes.
"Even if I marry again... no one can ever take Nuriya's place, Amma."
"And... what would Nuriya think about me?"
"Listen to me, Sayash..."
"Even Nuriya wouldn't want to see you and the child suffering."
"She would want you and Lily to be happy."
"And Lily needs a mother's love."
"You can't spend your entire life trying to fill the place of a mother for Lily."
Silence filled the room.
"Try to understand what I am saying, my son."
"Okay... I'll think about it."
"Really, child?"
"Hmm..."
"Alright. Then tell me... when are you coming?"
"We are planning to come at the end of this month."
"But not because of this matter."
"We are coming because April 9th marks five years since Nuriya left us."
"Okay, okay. You both come home."
"Alright, son. I'll end the call now. I have a lot of work to do. Your sister said she would be coming home by afternoon today."
"Hmm... okay. I'll call you in the evening."
"Alright, child. May you be blessed."
"Oh, and one more thing..."
"Send me a picture of the drawing Lily made, okay?"
"Hmm... okay, Amma."
"May you be blessed."
"Goodbye."
Sayash slowly stood up from the sofa.
He walked towards the drawing Lily had made and stood there silently, looking at it.
After staring at the picture for a while, he took a photo of it and sent it to Shalini.
