Chapter 1- Mr Perfectionist Meets Mr. Mess
Chapter One
Mr. Perfectionist Meets Mr. Mess
London, England
At precisely 8:55 a.m., the boardroom of Ferragamo Holdings was silent.
Not because anyone had been told to be quiet.
Because Louis Julian Ferragamo had entered the room.
He walked with measured steps, every movement effortless.
His charcoal three-piece suit was immaculate.
His silver cufflinks reflected the morning light.
Every document on the table sat perfectly aligned.
Without looking up, he spoke.
"Good morning."
Everyone answered at once.
"Good morning, Mr. Ferragamo."
He gave a single nod.
No smile.
No wasted words.
His assistant placed a cup of black coffee beside him.
Louis thanked him with a quiet,
"Much obliged."
His voice sounded as though it belonged in another century.
Employees often joked that if Shakespeare had become a CEO instead of a playwright...
...he would have sounded exactly like Louis Julian Ferragamo.
Across London...
Someone was running.
"Wait! Hold the lift!"
A man sprinted across the marble lobby carrying three folders, a laptop bag, and half a croissant.
The lift doors almost closed before opening again.
He stumbled inside.
Hair messy.
Tie crooked.
One sock didn't match the other.
He looked at his reflection.
"...Good enough."
It absolutely wasn't.
This was Alessandro Moretti.
CEO of Moretti Group.
Brilliant businessman.
Absolute disaster outside the boardroom.
Ten minutes later...
The National Business Council's annual meeting began.
Executives from the country's largest companies filled the grand conference hall.
Louis was already seated.
Alessandro burst through the doors.
Late.
Again.
He whispered,
"...I blame traffic."
One executive muttered,
"Traffic doesn't explain your tie."
Another added,
"...Or your hair."
Ignoring both comments, Alessandro searched for an empty seat.
Every chair was taken.
Except one.
Directly beside...
Louis Julian Ferragamo.
The room collectively held its breath.
The two greatest rivals in British business.
Side by side.
Alessandro sat down.
Smiled.
"Morning, Ferragamo."
Without looking away from his papers, Louis replied,
"Mr. Moretti."
Silence.
Thirty seconds passed.
Then Louis quietly reached into his briefcase.
Alessandro frowned.
"What are you—"
Louis leaned over.
With one smooth, practiced motion...
...he straightened Alessandro's crooked tie.
Perfectly.
He sat back as though nothing had happened.
The entire boardroom stared.
Alessandro blinked.
"...Did you just fix my tie?"
Louis finally looked at him.
His expression remained unreadable.
"It was distracting."
A pause.
Then, in that calm Shakespearean voice,
"Pray endeavour to resemble the Chief Executive Officer thou claimest to be."
The room exploded with barely contained laughter.
Alessandro groaned.
"...You are impossible."
For the first time that morning...
The corner of Louis Ferragamo's mouth lifted.
Just slightly.
And no one noticed.
Except Alessandro.
