The Fan Has Left the Chat

It's 10:30 PM.

The room is finally cool.

Blanket?

No.

Fan on full speed?

Absolutely.

Sleep loading...

Then...

TUK

.

Current gone.

The fan slowly stops rotating.

You stare at it.

It stares back.

The friendship ends.

Within five seconds...

The room transforms into an air fryer.

Everyone in the house wakes up at the exact same time.

Not because of the heat.

Because the fan stopped.

Indian parents have built-in fan detection sensors.

Dad immediately walks to the balcony.

Looks at the neighbour's house.

"

No power there also

."

Scientific confirmation complete.

Mom starts fanning herself with yesterday's newspaper.

At this point... The newspaper is more useful than the electricity board.

Five mosquitoes enter the room.

No...

They don't enter.

They booked the room in advance.

One mosquito flies near your ear.

"

Eeeeeeeee

..."

That tiny sound causes more fear than horror movies.

You switch on your phone flashlight.

Battery:

12%

Perfect timing.

The entire family now sits outside the house.

Suddenly...

The neighbours also come outside.

Within ten minutes, the street turns into

an unofficial night meeting.

One aunty says, "

Current cut again ah?"

No aunty...

We're all sitting outside to enjoy the weather.

Children happily playing outside.

Parents discussing electricity.

Grandparents telling stories.

Dogs sleeping peacefully.

Mosquitoes having a buffet.

Then someone shouts...

"

Power returned

!!!"....

Olympics begins.

Everyone runs inside.

Nobody wants to be the last person to switch on the fan.

You jump onto the bed.

The fan starts spinning.

Cool air touches your face.

Suddenly...Life has meaning again.

And that's when every Indian realizes...

We don't truly appreciate the fan...

Until it stops.

MtnsOfTroy: If you're looking for a feel good, steamy romance novel this will definitely do the job. It doesn't have a whole lot of plot twists, but it's believable enough to make it exciting. My only main critique is that there's not enough conflict, but there are plenty of steamy encounters and a happy ending...
