11:11

At exactly 11:10 p.m., Nyra Vale closed the window above her desk.

Rain tapped softly against the glass, and the digital clock beside her bed glowed in the darkness.

11:10

She stared at it.

She always did.

Every night.

One more minute.

Then another.

Her heart began beating faster.

She didn't know why.

She only knew that the feeling had haunted her for the past three months.

The clock changed.

11:11

Silence.

Not ordinary silence.

Absolute silence.

The rain stopped in midair.

The curtains froze before they could finish moving.

The ticking clock...

...stopped.

Nyra slowly stood.

She walked to the window.

Outside, the city looked like a photograph.

Cars stood motionless.

A motorcycle hung halfway through a turn.

Birds floated in the sky without flapping their wings.

Even lightning remained frozen across the clouds.

Her breathing became uneven.

"It happened again..."

She unlocked her bedroom door and stepped into the street.

No one moved.

She waved her hand in front of a policeman.

Nothing.

She touched the hood of a car.

The driver inside didn't blink.

Sixty seconds.

That was all she had.

Every night.

For reasons she couldn't explain.

Then...

Footsteps.

Nyra froze.

Someone else was walking.

At the far end of the street, six figures dressed in long black coats and white masks walked calmly between the frozen people.

They weren't surprised that time had stopped.

It was as though they belonged there.

One of them suddenly stopped.

Slowly...

He turned his head.

Even though his face was hidden behind a mask...

Nyra felt him looking directly at her.

Impossible.

No one had ever noticed her before.

The masked stranger tilted his head.

Then, in a voice so soft she almost didn't hear it, he spoke.

"Nyra."

Her blood ran cold.

How did he know her name?

The sixty seconds ended.

The world exploded back to life.

Rain crashed onto the streets.

Cars sped forward.

People continued walking as if nothing had happened.

The masked strangers...

...were gone.

Nyra stood trembling in the middle of the sidewalk.

Then her phone vibrated.

One new message.

Unknown Number.

She opened it.

It contained only one sentence.

"Run before tomorrow night. We found you."

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
