Knots and Stories
A Craft Fair Romance

Hi, it’s Kira!
Before you dive into Knots and Stories, I wanted to tell you where this one actually came from. Because it’s a pretty good story on its own.
When we first moved to Missouri, I found this little craft fair. Really it was more of an indoor swap meet, but a handful of genuinely great booths were tucked in among the folding tables. I was admiring a truly spectacular wooden porch bear (paws raised, holding a sign that said “Have a Beary Nice Day,” very serious craftsmanship) when I passed two girls at the next booth over. One of them, maybe nineteen or twenty, was cute. Like, really cute. Her friend sat beside her, and they were talking low and giggling in that way that makes you slow your steps just a little.
I never did find out who Bo actually was. From what I could piece together out of half a conversation, he worked the smoothie counter somewhere in that same swap meet, and our very cute little booth girl had thought about him. A lot. In detail. There was a whole fantasy involving smoothies, tasting, and a notable lack of clothing that I will not be reconstructing here. I’ll just let that sit with you the way it sat with me the whole drive home.
Because by the time I got home, Lila and Kris had basically already introduced themselves. Lila originally sold porch bears and wind chimes, same as the real booth, but I switched her over to macrame owls almost right away. It felt like a better way to tell her story, something she could actually pour her moods into, stitch by stitch. You’ll see what I mean when you meet her.
Small confession: this book almost went out under a different name. It was originally called A Fair to Remember. Cute, right? A little too cute, honestly, so I let it go. Knots and Stories fits her better anyway.
I hope you fall for Lila and Kris the way I did, somewhere between the wind chimes and the smoothie counter.
Oh, and one more thing. If you fall for Lila and Kris even half as much as I did, a review would mean the world to me. Indie publishing runs almost entirely on word of mouth, and a few honest sentences from you do more for this girl than you’d probably guess.
So... on to Knots and Stories. I hope you love it as much as I do.
Love,
Kira
