The End of the Magical Kingdom book series has been called a tragic parody. That is a book that’s funny, scary, emotional, and just plain weird. It’s a book some describe as too funny to be serious but too disturbing and intense to be a comedy.
The creators of the book series stated that the goal was to create a discussion about serious issues through the guise of a cartoony universe. Through exaggerated characters and bizarre plots, we tell the story of our own world, with clashing ideologies and multiple perspectives. This is our world, our culture, our “truths”, but shown through funny mirrors, a caricatured world that mirrors our own.
