CHAPTER 1:THE UNWANTED CHILD, BEGINNING OF PAIN
The night Emma was born was supposed to be the happiest night of Richard Ladan's life.
He had everything a man could desire. A wealthy family, a successful business empire, a beautiful wife, and a name that commanded respect in the business world.
But that night, everything changed.
His wife, Elizabeth Ladan, died shortly after giving birth to their daughter.
Richard stood outside the hospital room, staring at the newborn baby wrapped in a white blanket.
He didn't cry.
He didn't ask to hold her.
He simply looked at the child and whispered, "You took my wife away from me.
"I hate you"
From that moment, Emma became the unwanted child of the Ladan family.
Her father never comes for parents/teachers meetings in school.
Never picks her up from school.
And never cares for her like his own daughter.
He assigned nannies and maids to her.
Sends her allowance and takes care of her through their family bartler.
But never shows him a fatherly love.
Emma was 7 years old,when Richard married Vanessa, a beautiful single mother but calculating woman who already had a daughter named Sophia.
Sophia was two years younger than Emma
The first day her father introduced Sophia and her mom Vanessa, Emma knew from beginning that not only will she never gets her father's love but everything else will be gone as well.
Sophia eyes light-up with joy, as she scan the mansion.
"I love it her momma" it's beautiful.
Richard stares at Sophia with admiration and love, something Emma has longed for since she was an infant but never gets.
Something inside her broke, her father never looks at her that way, not once, not ever.
She ran upstairs and locked the door behind her.
Vanessa quickly became the mistress of the Ladan mansion, and Sophia became the princess of the household.
At first Vanessa was acting all nice and loving towards Emma,but does something else through her fake kindness.
During shopping she allows her daughter shops the most expensive things but takes Emma to cheap shops to buy her the cheapest things.
Richard never suspected a thing. Did he? Or he didn't just don't care at all.
So he really never pay attention to what his daughter is wearing or using.
How she eats or how she looks.
He really didn't care.
Once Emma have complained to her father but got grounded as her father labelled her ungrateful.
"I have a business trip by tomorrow" Richard announced during breakfast a month after Vanessa has moved in with Sophia.
Emma choked. "Dad..." She called but it sounded more like a whisper.
Richard shoot her a harsh glare.
Noticing the tension Vanessa signal Sophia to act.
"Daddy! " Sophia called "yes sweetheart?" Richard answered smiling ear to ear.
Emma stares in disbelief as her whole body went stiff with shook.
Sophia gave her a "I won look."
"Dad..........Emma words was cut short by Vanessa playful screams " oh my gosh Sophia, you shouldn't call......" No she can call me daddy" Richard interrupts.
"What about Emma? Sophia asked feigning innocence.
Richard didn't answer,he should picked Sophia up from her chair" at least Soph.....he paused " you didn't kill your mom" he dropped the word slowly but clear enough for Emma to hear. And walk out.
Vanessa gave Emma a look that said "I told you so" and left with him and her daughter yelling slowly"oh you shouldn't have said something like that, she is just a child".
Emma was meaning to tell him about the her upcoming school competition, she really wants him to be there even if he hates her.
Their voices fades but Emma didn't move, she stayed sitted for a long time before she dragged her body to her room.
Emma couldn't bring herself to hate her father.
She loves him dearly and it hurts.
She didn't have a mom or know her mom she only knows her father, who happens to hate her.
And everyday she planns herself for her mom's death.
And wish she was never born at least her mom would have been alive and her dad won't have hated her this much. But she hopes he changes and loves her too like she loves Sophia.
The bartler watched everything from a hidden spot and was shaking his head throughout.
Emma, however, became the unwanted reminder of a woman Vanessa could never replace.
The next day Richard travelled for the business trip and Emma life took a turn, Vanessa made sure that Emma was starved at home and Sophia made Emma's life a living hell at school, as she spreads rumours and lies about Emma. Emma always gets a group beating, evil pranks and Everytime the teachers never comes to her rescue as they dismiss it as children playing around. Because Vanessa made sure of it.
Whenever Richard was around, Vanessa pretended to be loving.
But then Sophia keep framing Emma and Richard always takes her side while Emma was punished, locked out or sometimes go to bed hungry.
""Don't touch anything in this house"Vanessa voice thundered from behind her as Emma was trying to pick an instant noodles from the kitchen counter.
"But I'm hungry"she weighs as her hands went to her stomach.
"I don't care"Vanessa sneered
"But you took all my allowance and never allows me to eat anything else..... please let me have this please"she plead with tears in her eyes but her Stepmom stood her ground.
"You are lucky your father allows you to stay here."Vanessa voiced out.
Emma grew up learning how to remain silent.
She learned to eat whatever was left after everyone had finished.
She learned to wear old clothes while Sophia wore expensive dresses.
She learned that birthdays were celebrations for Sophia, but ordinary days for her or maybe Never.
And whenever she complained, Richard would say the same thing.
"Stop being ungrateful. I gave you a roof over your head."
Emma was only twelve when she finally understood that she had no place in her own home.
"mom I can't stand her anymore, I'm getting bored of torturing her and she is already growing, I want her out of this house she is trying to outshine me"Sophia complained to her mom in their family tea garden.
"Shhhh" Vanessa shush Sophia. " The walls has ears" she warned" don't worry I have a plan" she will be out soon" Sophia grin at her mom as she said plan" oh mom I love you" she jumb excitedly" hahahaha"Vanessa Laughed "you know you re too evil for Ur age" I'm my mom's daughter" Sophia added.
IN AN UNKNOWN DARK ROOM
A MAN SAID TO ANOTHER IN THE SHADOW
"Bring her to me" The man in the dark room commands.
"Yes master"
The other man bowed
