Chapter 1
At the Abimanyu Residence, Alisya stepped out of the car and noticed her father sitting in the living room, which instantly caught her attention. She had just returned from campus, feeling completely exhausted after a long day of classes.
"Father..." said Alisya Maheswari.
"Aren't you working today? It's unusual for you to be home this early, you usually work overtime..." she added, sitting down on the sofa directly in front of him.
"Yes, my child. I finished my work earlier today," Abimanyu replied.
"Where is Mother, Father?" asked Alisya.
"She's in the kitchen, making coffee," answered Abimanyu.
tap....tap....
The sound of footsteps echoed as someone entered. A man who looked younger than Abimanyu approached them, dressed in a neat batik shirt.
"Excuse me, Sir Miss. Here are the documents you requested," Aldi said Ashe handed over the files.
"thank you, Aldi. You may head back to the office now," Abimanyu told his secretary .
"very well, Sir. I shall take my leave, Sir, Miss," Aldi said , bowing respectfully before departing.
After Aldi left, Annisa came out of the kitchen and approached her husband and daughter, placing a cup of coffee on the table for her husband.
"thank you, darling," Abimanyu said.
"Alisya, how was your first day on campus?" her mother, Annisa, asked.
"it was so exhausting, Mom. I couldn't even lie down and rest because of classes. Plus, I only made one friend. The others don't seem to want to talk to me, though I have no idea why..." Alisya vented to her parents.
Alisya had recently been transferred by her father to a top university in America, where they currently resided. Even though they came from a humble background, Alisya was never ashamed of having a father who was an ordinary worker. Abimanyu used to be a permanent employee at a small company, but his diligence and had work eventually earned him a promotion to manager. Now, he had been transferred to a major company specializing in famous brands in America.
"Well, that's alright. What matters most is that you study well there," Annisa comforted her.
"Emmm," Abimanyu hummed. "My child, can I talk to you about something?" Abimanyu asked hesitantly.
"Go ahead, Father," Alisya replied, looking at her father, who suddenly looked very serious.
"I wan you to get married. Could you do that for me?" Abimanyu asked gently.
"what are you talking about, Father? I haven't even graduated yet, how could I possibly get married?" Alisya protested, completely shocked by her father's sudden request.
"Alisya, actually, this is an agreement made by your grandfather before he passed away," Abimanyu said, handing over the documents that Aldi had brought earlier.
Alisya took the files and read through them.
"But Father, I..." Alisya's voice trailed off.
"I beg you, this is your grandfather's dying wish," Abimanyu pleaded.
"Sweetheart, we know this is incredibly hard, but please accept it... you can still continue your studies even after you are married," Annisa added, trying to reassure her daughter.
Alisya fell silent, lost in thought. A few moments later, she looked up at her parents and let out a resigned sigh.
"Alright, Father, Mother. I will get married," Alisya answered.
"Thank you, sweetheart," Abimanyu said with a deep sigh of relief.
"But... do you already have someone in mind?" Alisya asked curiously.
"Tomorrow, you will meet your fiancé. He is very handsome," Annisa said with a warm smile.
