Chapter 1 THE ONE WHO WASN'T

Chapter 1: The One Who Wasn’t Chosen

The lecture hall was noisy as usual.

Tunde sat in his usual spot, third row, window side. His eyes weren’t on the lecturer’s slides. They were on Ada.

Ada. The girl who laughed too loud, who shared her snacks, who always said "Tunde, you’re my bestie."

Bestie. That word cut him every time.

He had loved her since 100 level. 3 years now.

But Ada didn’t see him that way.

Because Ada was busy looking at Chike.

Chike from Accounting. Tall, fine, always with fresh haircut and iPhone.

And the worst part? Chike was also looking at Ada.

Tunde watched them after class.

Chike: "Ada, wait. Let me walk you to your hostel."

Ada: *smiling* "Aww, okay."

Tunde just packed his bag slowly.

He was the one who helped her with assignments.

He was the one who sat with her when she was sick.

But he was not the one she chose.

As he walked home alone that evening, Tunde made a silent promise.

If I can’t have her, I’ll make sure she remembers me.
