Julia and her departure from her homeland
A small room with worn walls. A suitcase lies open on the bed, almost empty. JULIA (aged 25, with a determined yet fragile look) zips it shut with a sudden movement.
JULIA
- That’s it. That’s all I’ve got.
He looks around. The room seems to be getting smaller. He sits down on the bed and opens his laptop. On the screen: a confirmation email for an interview.
JULIA
(whispering)
- Don’t change your mind now. Please, don’t change your mind.
Click on the company’s website. At the top, there’s a photo of CHRISTINE (CEO, blonde, with an icy stare, wearing an impeccable suit). Julia zooms in on the image.
JULIA
- Oh my God. This woman looks as if she’s never laughed in her life. „One of the most demanding CEOs in the industry.” Just great. I’m off to an interview with someone who’ll probably just stare at me for two minutes and then say, „Next!”
He laughs nervously, a hollow sound.
JULIA
- At least I’ll give it a go. If he turns me down, I’ll come back knowing I tried. That’s what matters.
