Chapter 1

*Alya’s POV*

As I walked through the streets of "modern streets". I swear I could taste the sand in the hot and dusty wind that was blowing. I was on my way to the boutique "Veil and Vogue" that I made myself with my fashion designer aunt Laila. She is basically my dad and mom both. My grandmother and aunt became my whole world after my mom and dad died in a car accident.

I was taken out of my thinking world as I heard a little girl screaming. I looked in that direction as I found 3 men harassing the girl. She looked scared in a uniform. This was so normal in Karachi.

I couldn’t help but be taken back to when I was harassed the same way. It almost ruined me. Almost broke me. But luckily police arrived so I was safe. But no, they still touched me and I let them cuz I was a girl. Just a "girl". It’s not about being a girl, it’s about being a girl and everyone thinking she is weak. While a girl, a woman is the most strongest being.

It made me mad that how this was being repeated in the year 2026 but still some people are living in the 90s. As much as it made me mad, it made me feel what I’ve been fighting against.

Panic attack hit me hard. I was shivering. My feet refused to take a step, and my voice refused to come out. A lot of people were there, but no one spoke.

I don’t care .I have to say something. I have to do something. I took a step, then another, even though I was cold and sweating. I don’t care anymore.

My voice came out cracked. "Let go of this girl."I sounded tough (I hope so). They all laughed at my face. I just wanted to kill every one of them.

"This is the last time I am nicely asking you to let. go. of. that. girl." I am done being nice. I couldn’t control my hand as I slapped the guy that almost came near me. So hard. I could see the rage in their eyes from being humiliated. I don’t care about it anymore.I opened the last two buttons of my abaya as I got ready to show them who I am.
