Prologue
Poetry has its way of naming what we can't name when we're feeling intense emotions. To me, it has been a long time companion -- like a loyal friend who encourages you to just meet up for coffee, come as you are and cry if you have to.
It gives you that big warm hug that silently says "Thanks for trusting me. We've got this!"
This poetry anthology is just snippets of my thoughts about human connection -- virtual or real, and how it plays out in the life of a woman who has been battling chronic pain like me. If you are in the same situation, I am sending you a big virtual hug.
I might add some old poems here, but primarily, this book focuses on my experiences and questions as I go through this period called mid-life.
It's a privilege for me to be welcomed into your library. More than anything, I pray that the words just don't make you ache, but get inspired, too.
Life is short. And so we have to seize those moments when we can let our light shine for those who need it.
