Summary

I placed the papers on his desk as I sunk into his office chair. “What do you say about a mutually beneficial agreement?" He raised a brow as he leaned against the mahogany desk. “I doubt there's anything you have to offer me." My lips curled in a smile as I leaned in. “Oh, there's a lot I have to offer you, Mr. Cyerin." His eyes were shrouded with disbelief. I couldn't blame him, who'd believe a pregnant woman crashing at their place? " How about the entire Cynde industry?” I placed my chin on the back of my palm. "Does that strike a bargain worth your time?" His gaze sharpened as he peered down at me. “What exactly did you have in mind, Alae?" † Amaya Reinè felt firsthand what it was like to be tossed out like a piece of trash that had outlived its use. Desperate for money, Amaya signs a contract agreement with Airen Cynde to be his substitute lover. Only the man she'd fallen in love with had long changed. It was too late too late to turn back the hands of time, but it was never too late to pay karma a good ol' visit to remind her she still had work to do. But somewhere between the plotting and hating her new host, feelings simmer in the mix and that just can't be ignored.

Kits and Kitten

Maya

My hands shook as I held the pregnancy kit in my hands.

After days of morning sickness and fatigue that plagued my every waking moment, I finally mustered up the courage to take the pregnancy test.

There was no way on god's green earth I'd be pregnant, right?... right?!

My chest tightened as I held the strip, two bright red lines stared back at me.

Absolutely fucking not.

I launched the strip across the room like it was a hot potato.

“It has to be a mistake.” I muttered as I splashed water on my face. “Hormones stuff. Yeah.”

I tore the wrapper of the second one, then the third, probably a fourth but I lost count.

Double lines stared back at me mockingly each time.

“I can't believe it.” I repeated again, rubbing my palms against the back of my jeans.

There was a living, breathing organism forming in my stomach.

“Hah.” I threw my head back, I was royally screwed.

How was I supposed to tell Airen I forgot to take a morning after pill and now I was, well… pregnant.

His reactions would be one of the two extremes. And I really hoped with everything I had that it would be positive.

He would be ecstatic. Probably try to maintain his composure then buy out half the children’s departmental store.

I placed my hand on my lower belly. What if having his child would make him look at me.

Actually look at me, not as a replacement for his ex-wife but as his girlfriend and the  mother of his unborn children.

I stared at the mirror, tucking a stray strand of blonde hair behind my ears.

“Airen,” I inhaled deeply, looking at my reflection for a burst of confidence. Emerald green eyes stared straight back at me.

I waved the pregnancy test, averting my eyes slightly. “You know I told you about how my period has been a little later. Well I'm sorta …pregnant.”

I slammed the strip back onto the sink. “What the hell are you doing Maya. You weren't the one who knocked yourself up.”

I grabbed the keys to my Maserati Levant, the one he got me for our three year anniversary.

I revved the engine up, the smooth purr sent soothing chills to the very depths of my soul. Qué Sera. It was time to meet my boyfriend.

I zoomed past the incoming traffic to our penthouse in the Mainland. It was basically a city within the city.

One that only the crème de la crème of society could afford to step foot in.

Three years ago, I wouldn't dream of taking a step here. They'd cut off my foot.

Lush greenery came into view, the penthouse was hidden by the canopy of trees from the distance, just the way Airen loved it.

One of my fondest moments with him was hidden underneath those canopies. For a billionaire, he loved the outdoors, it was the only time he could ever truly relax.

My stilettos echoed against the pristine tiles as I made it through the front door.

Weird. The butler would usually be here to help me with my bags.

I climbed up the stairs, my hands unconsciously caressed the base of my stomach.

The pregnancy strip was like an anvil in my bag and my foot was as heavy as lead. Each step was like a death sentence.

Waves of uncertainty rolled over me as I stood in front of his office door.

“Airen,” I called out gently, with the faux sweet voice he made me use. “Are you busy, honey?”

My eyes narrowed as I was met with silence. There's no way he was too busy to answer me.

I twisted the knob, a sinking feeling settled in my chest with each second that passed.

It was empty. His De’Croix golden fountain pen sat on the desk with an unfinished pile of paperwork.

That was even more unusual. Airen Cynde never left his work undone.

“He's probably just taking a rest.” I murmured, clicking the door shut, “He should be in the master bedroom.”

I wasn't allowed to go in, unless on special occasions when he wanted to do it on his king sized bed. But I believe this could be considered an exception.

My fingers brushed against the cold, metal knob.

The first thing I heard was his name and it was definitely not his assistant’s voice, nor a pot bellied old man begging for a favour.

It was a feminine, coy and laced with honey that I could never copy.

“Ahhh!! Airen fasterr…” her voice trailed off as she moaned.

My limbs stiffened and the knob slipped from my grasp.

The door slid open with a creak that was masked by the loud moans.

Two pairs of eyes turned to me, one half lidded with lust, the other barely spared me a glance.

I was still reeling from the shock. Either from the uncanny resemblance we bore or the fact that my boyfriend’s hands were around her waist as he slammed into her.

The name hit me like a freight train. I had only heard it a million times because he whispered it in my ears every night before bed.

Vanessa

Her bottle green eyes met my emerald orbs. They seemed to mock me, ‘He fucks me while you can only stand and watch like the cheap little replacement you are.’

Vanessa's eyes rolled back, and a low guttural moan left his lips as he shot his load into her.

Airen ran his hands gently along her spine, whispering sweet nothings into her ears.

He helped Vanessa up, wrapping her in the sheets. His hands snaked her waist, pulling her towards his chest protectively.

I stood there, frozen in shock, unable to tear my gaze away.

Airen finally glanced at me. Not as his girlfriend, or his woman he {oved for the past three years but as the haggard looking waitress he picked up from the rough streets of Illinois.

His gaze was cold, bearing down on me like the statue of liberty.

“You have two weeks.” Airen said, his grip on Vanessa tightening. “I want you out in two weeks– nothing more.”

I opened my mouth, then closed it back. “...You're joking.”

Vanessa placed a hand over her mouth, she wasn't even trying to stifle her giggles.

“Do I look like I'm joking? Our contract clearly stated that this,” he gestured towards the two of us, “was temporary.”

Vanessa stood on her toes, placing a gentle kiss on his face as tears welled in the corner of her eyes, “Thank you baby, for giving me a second chance.”

I took a step back, stumbling as my foot nudged a ledge.

Damien turned back to me, his gaze icy cold like he'd wanted me gone in seconds. “My wife is back.” He enunciated clearly, “You were only a temporary solution.”

My heart sank.

“But,” I stammered, “I'm pregnant for you.”

It was dead silent, only the sound of breathing and the decadent smell of sex lingered faintly in the air.

“What did you just say?” Vanessa asked, her eyes widened as she took a step towards me.
