ELEANOR ELISE:
Three men, in dark casual clothes, masked in caps and lower face masks- I remember it so clearly. Panther needed food; the Saturday evening I was supposed to stay secluded, but I broke my rules and left my haven to supply Panther with more kibble.
The night dwelled with light rain and a few dollars to spare; wanting to get Panther something special, I got lost in my music and nightlife that I neglected the letters, my safety, and most importantly, my freedom that I had never once called into question since being on my own.
Why would I? Who would care to take it away from me? But I was wrong... so wrong.
I sat on the balcony, in a room that was uncharted to my perspective; I remember those three unknown men circling me like hungry wolves, and I was the scared doe. I did the only thing that came to mind; I fled.
The streets were dead and quiet due to it being so late; they chased me like a common criminal until my lungs burned and my legs were aching. I ran, having fear fill me like a heavy water jug, listening to their footsteps closing in.
What did they want? I’m a broke independent woman living on a low income.
They eventually caught up, and God wasn’t on my side; I fled down an alleyway, seeing an open exit. I let my hopes excite me, grasping the path only for an SUV to block my escape, knocking me to the ground.
The fall knocked the wind out of me, and I lost; those men grabbed my arms, seeing my blurry vision witness another, a fourth, open the back door, signaling the men to toss me inside. I couldn’t fight or struggle since they had power over me.
He wore the same attire, but with a long wool trench coat and cooling hazel eyes that held dark, ominous intentions; it brought a cold chill to my tense body.
Am I being kidnapped for ransom? trafficking? prostitution?
I was left alone with the fourth; I recall his low, husky voice as his hands were gloved with expensive leather gloves. I felt a tear slide down my temple watching him pull out a syringe, and he leaned down, and I turned my head so I wouldn’t have to stare into his eerie eyes.
"Nice to finally meet you, my kitten”
His voice sounded more evil than his eyes; my heart raced to the point where I thought I was going to have a heart attack. His kitten? Who is he?
I couldn’t respond; he didn’t give me my turn, as I felt a sharp prick on my neck. I whimpered, attempting to push his shoulders. Sadly, I suddenly felt weak and drowsy, letting my arms fall to my sides, needing to sleep.
I hugged my knees, curled in the corner of the open balcony where I felt comfortable and able to breathe since I woke up in the unfamiliar bedroom. I’m scared, straight shivering, waiting for what’s to come.
The fresh air and breeze were calming; it was Sunday, I knew that for sure. Day one of being abducted, and I wait for someone to walk through the door, explaining further instructions, especially meeting my captor
Awaiting my fate...
