Parte I - El Peso de la permanencia

Antes de que existiera una forma de medirlo, algo ya estaba durando demasiado. La repetición había empezado a fallar. Los gestos volvían, pero no iguales. Las decisiones se parecían, pero nunca cerraban. Cada amanecer borraba el anterior con una eficacia animal. Nada acumulaba peso. Nada quedaba.Umbral percibió ese límite. No como frustración. Como estancamiento. No descendió. No apareció. Ocupó.En una cueva baja, saturada de humo viejo y grasa quemada, el aire se volvió incorrecto. No frío: denso. Como si el espacio hubiese decidido no ceder más. Los cuerpos reaccionaron sin entender. Nadie gritó. Nadie miró. No había nada que mirar.Las palabras no servían todavía. Ni siquiera como intento.Umbral permaneció ahí, ejerciendo una presión sin forma. No exigía atención. Exigía resolución. La cercanía no dolía, pero obligaba. Un peso nuevo cayó sobre un hombre que sostenía una piedra. No era miedo. Era la necesidad de que algo, lo que fuera, dejara de moverse.El hombre no pensó en crear. Pensó en aliviarse.Umbral sostuvo ese instante. Lo estiró. No permitió que se diluyera. La duda se volvió insoportable. El segundo dejó de ser un paso y pasó a ser un borde.La piedra tocó la pared. El trazo fue torpe. Inútil para contar. Insuficiente para explicar. Pero sobrevivió al impulso que lo produjo. Cuando el pensamiento ya no estaba, la marca seguía ahí. No decía nada. No respondía. No retrocedía. Umbral observó sin reacción. No había logro. Había condición cumplida. Por primera vez, algo del pasado no obedeció al presente. No hubo celebración. No hubo enseñanza. Umbral no corrigió la forma ni repitió el gesto. Se retiró en el mismo silencio con el que había ocupado el lugar. La presión cedió. El aire volvió a aceptar cuerpos. La marca quedó. Días después, alguien la señaló. Otro la negó. Pero ninguno pudo moverla. No importó si entendían. Importó que ya no alcanzaba con recordar distinto. Umbral no volvió. No porque hubiera terminado, sino porque había fijado una regla suficiente para continuar el experimento sin asistencia:
