The Beginning of Everything
Since childhood, we have grown accustomed to beautiful love stories and happy endings through Disney movies and princesses who wait for their prince to come, love them, and protect them without asking for anything in return.
Then, during our teenage years, came the series and idealistic stories that spoke of love that never ends.
All of this made us believe that love stories were beautiful, and made most of us search for our own prince who would love us. It also planted in our minds, from a young age, the idea that love is perfect, free from lies and deception, and that everyone who tells you, “I love you,” truly loves you.
But we grow up, and as time passes, we begin to discover that everything we believed in was not entirely true.
We discover that love is not always beautiful, that the person who tells you “I love you” may not actually love you, and that some promises are easily made, but keeping them is not always easy.
We discover that the prince we waited for so long may never come, and even if he does, he may not be the way we imagined him to be.
And that the love we thought would last forever may end, and that the person who promised to stay may be the first one to leave.
Perhaps the problem was never love itself, but rather the idealized image we created of it since childhood.
They made us believe that love knew no lies, no betrayal, and no leaving, and then left us to discover the truth.
