Chapter 1: A Few Months Later

A few months had passed since Sora had given birth to Colt. Beckett/Buck now have full father duties. Colonel Rex could see this was inevitable from the beginning knowing Buck didn’t realize the consequences of not being in his world. Kari and Kenneth are proud grandparents now while Frederick does his best to keep up with his relationship with Jenny since getting rid of Baron Fluffnose.

“Don’t worry Jenny, things are different” states Frederick.

“You’ve said that for sometime since you got rid of that capybara inside your head” continues Jenny, “my parents want you to get a better job.”

Frederick had to take time off when Baron occupied his head – he surely was trying to catch up at a local law firm owned by Attorney Salina Malone. At first, she thought everything was outlandish on giving Frederick extra time off until she realized Beckett/Buck was actually his brother from the civil trial case a few months ago.

“My boss has been hard on me at work” sighed Frederick.

“I can see that, but that still doesn’t excuse you why you can’t do better” replied Jenny.

Frederick still lived at his apartment with her. Meanwhile, at the Kai residence, Sora was looking forward to get her parents from South Korea to come over. Kari and Kenneth were quite thrilled. Buck is in the living room playing with Colt.

“Can you say Buck?” asked Buck as he was playing with Colt.

Colt was just giggling, doing typical baby noises.

Beckett inside his own head couldn’t believe that Buck thought babies could talk.

“He’s probably not going to speak for at least a year” replied Beckett.

“Aw, come on, you can try” laughed Buck.

Buck seemed more relax, despite the fatherhood with Colt. It was perhaps a good sign that Colt was now becoming the contingency for Buck to remain logical knowing human lives were at risk.

“I see you’ve improved since you’ve been occupying my head” states Beckett.

“Yeah, sorry if I’m living rent free here” replied Buck, “so long as Colt doesn’t understand who his father is, I’m going to remain here indefinitely.”

Beckett shook his own head over this knowing he would never have his freewill again.

“I know things are tough, but maybe if you teach me, you could probably leave” states Beckett.

Buck was somewhat skeptical over this, he could tell that Beckett really did miss being himself. Then again, how would he explain this to Colt if Colt grows up without Buck?

“I’ll see what I can do” replied Buck.

Back to the real world, Buck continues to play with Colt. Sora finally calls her parents – Andrew and Rachel San. Andrew’s a known corporate attorney in Seol, Korea doing his best to make a living. It’s been at least a year since his estranged daughter left for America.

“Sora, you gave birth?!” cried Andrew.

Andrew was about to go to bed for the evening on his end. Rachel was fast asleep. Andrew was shocked to learn his own daughter got pregnant and gave birth to an American. But the strangest thing of it all was – it wasn’t just any American – it was the Buck Hammerlocke!

Lillipad0234: I really enjoyed Grumpy Next Door Neighbour. The humour and banter between the characters made me smile, and it was a lovely, short, fast-paced romance. 😊There were a couple of chapters where I got a little lost at first, but after rereading them, everything came together and made sense. Overall, a...
