Phoenix Osiris Bailey (31, 6'5)

   :Get Yo Ass In Line

Phoenix walked into their home after a long ass day at the office, only to be greeted by screaming. And not no regular screaming either—nah, somebody was hollering like they were getting murdered in that damn house.

"Why the fuck is he screaming?" was the exact thought that crossed Phoenix's mind as he hung up his coat and slipped off his shoes. Like, damn, he couldn't even make it through the front door in peace before the theatrics started.

He made his way up the three flights of stairs before finally stepping into the master bedroom, only to find Syon sitting there watching Terrifier 2 like he didn't just have the whole damn house sounding like a crime scene.

"Asani..."

His deep voice rang through the room, and suddenly, all that screaming from earlier had mysteriously disappeared.

Asani slowly peeked out from under the blankets, only his eyes showing.

"Yes?"

Phoenix stared at him for a long moment.

"Why the fuck was you screaming like somebody was killing you?"

Asani blinked innocently.

"...I wasn't screaming."

Phoenix's eyebrow lifted.

"Boy."

"Don't lie to me right now."

"B-But—"

"But what?" Phoenix cut him off, his voice dropping lower. "You wanna finish that sentence, or you wanna try that shit again?"

Asani immediately shut his mouth.

Phoenix nodded slowly. "That's what I thought."

Asani sunk a little deeper underneath the blankets, mumbling something Phoenix couldn't quite make out.

"What was that?"

"Nothing."

"Exactly. So sit your ass up and talk to me."

Asani mumbled something under his breath, but Phoenix caught every damn word.

His eyes narrowed. "What'd you say?"

"Nothing."

"Nah, I heard you."

Asani finally peeked out from beneath the blankets, a tiny smirk tugging at his lips. "I said you talk too damn much."

Phoenix stared at him.

Asani stared right back.

Then, because apparently he had no survival instincts whatsoever, he added, "Old ass—"

"Asani."

The warning in Phoenix's voice wiped the smirk clean off his face.

Phoenix stepped closer, catching him by the chin and making him look up at him. "You got one more smart-ass comment in you?"

Asani swallowed, but that little attitude was still fighting for its life. "Maybe."

Phoenix's jaw clenched.

"See, that shit right there," he muttered. "That's exactly why I gotta check your ass every time you get beside yourself."

Asani rolled his eyes.

Phoenix immediately caught his chin again. "And don't you dare roll your eyes at me."

"I wasn't—"

"Boy."

Asani shut his mouth.

"Thought so."

Phoenix got up and made his way toward the bathroom, stripping down to his boxers as he went. He barely had time to step inside before Asani came shuffling in behind him, eyes glossy and lips pushed into the biggest pout known to man.

Phoenix paused.

"Now what?"

Asani sniffled, looking down at the floor.

Phoenix stared at him for a second before sighing. "Oh, so now you wanna cry?"

"I'm not crying," Asani mumbled.

"Your eyes damn near swimming."

Asani wiped at them quickly, clearly offended. "You was being mean to me."

Phoenix's expression softened despite himself. Damn brat.

He walked over and tilted Asani's chin up. "And you wasn't being a smart-ass?"

Asani hesitated.

"Exactly."

"But you didn't have to talk to me like that."

Phoenix sighed, pulling him closer. "Come here."

Asani immediately folded into him, arms wrapping around his waist like he hadn't just been running his mouth five minutes ago.

Phoenix rubbed his back, letting him have his little moment before speaking again.

"I'm not mad at you, baby. But you gotta learn when to quit fucking playing with me."

Asani sniffled against his chest.

"And don't think these tears finna get you out of being corrected either."

Asani's head popped up. "See! You're being mean again!"

Phoenix stared at him.

Asani slowly lowered his head back down.

"Yeah," Phoenix muttered, shaking his head. "That's what I thought."

"Can I get in with you, Bubba?" Asani asked, his voice softening as he looked up at Phoenix.

Phoenix stared down at him for a moment before giving his ass a few playful smacks.

"Yeah, yeah. Go get your clothes off."

Asani immediately perked up, hurrying out of his clothes and tossing them wherever he damn well pleased.

Phoenix glanced at the growing pile on the floor.

"Asani."

He froze.

"Pick that shit up."

His shoulders dropped. "Yes, Bubba."

Phoenix shook his head, trying—and failing—not to smile. "Brat"

(He only like that 'cause you spoil him, niggah. 🙄)

Phoenix slowly turned his head.

"Excuse me?"

The author went silent.

Phoenix narrowed his eyes. "Who the fuck you talking to you burnt bitch?"

...

"Yeah. That's what I thought."

He pointed toward Asani, who was standing there minding his own damn business. "You see my baby over there? You better watch how you talk about him."

(I'm just saying—)

"Don't give a fuck what you just saying." Phoenix cut him off. "You keep my baby's name out your mouth before I come through this page and rearrange your whole damn life."

(Phoenix, be fucking serious—)

"Oh, I'm serious." He stepped closer, cracking his knuckles. "You got a lot of mouth for somebody who ain't even a character."

Asani blinked. "Bubba... who are you talking to?"

"Nobody, baby." Phoenix immediately turned back to him, his voice sweetening like he hadn't just threatened the author. "Get your ass in the bathroom."

(See? Spoiled.)

Phoenix's head snapped back around.

"BITCH."

Asani covered his mouth, trying not to laugh.

Phoenix pointed straight ahead. "One more word about my baby and I'm dragging your ass through every chapter of this damn book."

(...)

"Yeah. Shut the fuck up."

After their shower, they went through the rest of their usual routine before stepping back into the bedroom. Phoenix dried off and pulled on a pair of boxers, tossing the towel aside.

Asani took his sweet-ass time getting dressed, eventually slipping into a pair of black lace panties and a white crop top.

Phoenix glanced over at him.

Then glanced again.

His lips pressed into a thin line.

That damn biscuit really tried it.

He shook his head, looking away before his thoughts could get any more disrespectful.

Got my baby walking around looking like that after all that damn attitude. Yeah, that bitch know exactly what she  doing.

Phoenix sighed under his breath.

Asani looked over. "What?"

"Nothing."

Asani narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "You was thinking something."

Phoenix looked him up and down once more before shaking his head.

"Just thinking you're spoiled as hell."

Asani smiled proudly. "You made me that way."

Phoenix stared at him.

"See?" he muttered. "Exactly my damn point."

(Man, shut that shit up for real, Phoenix, 'fore I kill yo ass off.)

Phoenix's eyes narrowed.

Oh, bitch. You wanna try me? Again!?

He stared down at Asani, who was slowly drifting off beside him, completely unaware of the beef happening inside Phoenix's head.

Yeah, just wait till my baby go to sleep. I'm finna deal with yo burnt-end-built-ass.

Phoenix clenched his jaw, forcing himself not to say that shit out loud.

Not because he was scared of the author.

Hell nah.

He just wasn't finna wake his baby up over some petty-ass argument.

You got me fucked up. Talking 'bout killing me off like I ain't the one carrying this damn story.

Phoenix glanced at Asani again and sighed.

But I swear, if that bitch say one more thing about my baby...

His eyes narrowed toward absolutely nothing.

It's up.

Twin 😭😭 Phoenix is officially putting the author on Do Not Disturb:

(🙄)

Phoenix's eye twitched.

Roll 'em till they fall out, bitch. I don't give a damn—

He paused, staring into the darkness.

You know what? Don't talk to me for the rest of the story, hoe.

Phoenix nodded to himself, satisfied with that decision.

Matter of fact, don't even look my way. Don't narrate my ass. Don't describe shit I'm doing. Just mind your damn business.

He glanced over at Asani, who was peacefully drifting off beside him.

Phoenix's expression softened.

Yeah. I'm finna enjoy my night with my baby. Fuck you and this damn narration.

And with that, Phoenix mentally put the author on mute.

Finally. Peace and quiet.
