THE FIRST

Before light, before darkness, and before the very concepts of space, time, matter, and life, there was only a profound and endless silence. There were no stars to pierce the emptiness, no worlds to harbor souls, and no dimensions to measure. There was simply nothing.

And then, something awakened.

Time

A pale-blue figure emerged from the quiet void, taking the shape of a man. No supreme force summoned him; he simply was. Gazing into the boundless nothingness, the being claimed his name: Time. He stood alone for what might have been a fleeting instant or an unfathomable eternity, for the very metric of measurement had not yet been born. For ages, Time remained still—lazy, unbothered, and entirely silent. He watched the empty expanse, questioning neither his existence nor his purpose.

Eventually, the silence fractured. A single spark ignited, followed by another, until the absolute nothingness began to burn.

Destruction

From the inferno strode a second existence, a man formed entirely of living fire. Where he walked, the emptiness scorched; where his gaze fell, the void trembled. He was Destruction. He possessed no capacity to create, nor any desire to understand it. His singular nature was to consume, to fracture, and to erase.

Yet, a paradox unfolded. As Destruction immolated the void, the nothingness mutated into something tangible. Energy, matter, and space forged the primal foundations of a fledgling universe. Merely by slaughtering the silence, Destruction had unknowingly birthed reality. But Destruction was fiercely territorial, claiming all that now existed as his own.

Soon, he was challenged.

Creation

Rising from the newly forged cosmos came a man composed of earth, flora, and the vibrant colors of nature. Where his feet met the newborn ground, the promise of life followed. He named himself Creation. Where Destruction saw only kindling, Creation saw boundless potential.

And so, he began to build. He molded planets, ignited stars, and shaped universes that expanded into multiverses, dimensions, and sprawling realities. Existence swelled beyond anything Time could have ever anticipated. Some worlds were swallowed by vast oceans, while others grew thick with forests or lay utterly untouched.

However, Creation’s greatest triumph was also a dire provocation: he had manifested something that could actively oppose Destruction. A brutal, endless cycle began. Creation built, and Destruction razed. Over and over, across the canvas of existence.

Eventually, Creation recognized a hollow truth. His worlds were magnificent, yet entirely empty. They lacked movement, purpose, voices, and souls.

Life

To answer this quiet tragedy, a being woven from wind and mud emerged from Creation’s planetary tapestries. Shifting fluidly like the gale yet anchored to the earth by his muddy stride, he called himself Life. Acting as a devoted younger companion, Life followed in Creation’s wake. Where Creation sculpted a planet, Life populated it. Oceans brimmed with creatures, and forests teemed with sprawling species.

Soon, intelligent beings awakened. For the first time, existence echoed with voices, dreams, joy, and suffering. Creation had finally manifested something that Destruction could not simply obliterate. Life gave Creation the ultimate advantage: even if a world fell to ash, Life would stubbornly take root elsewhere. For a fleeting era, it seemed Life had conquered Destruction, rendering itself nearly immortal.

But nothing can endure forever.

Death

A chilling wind swept through the universes, dragging shadows and frost into the farthest corners of existence. From this encroaching darkness stepped a man draped in frost and gloom. At first, he offered no words. He simply observed Life, and then, he claimed his name: Death.

Death became the grim student of Destruction. While his mentor unmade the worlds themselves, Death dismantled everything that breathed within them. Every creature, civilization, and species Life nurtured eventually met Death's cold embrace.

The cycle was renewed, but now it possessed perfect balance. Without Death, Life had no conclusion. Without Life, Death had no harvest. Without Creation, Destruction had no target, and without Destruction, Creation would never have been sparked from the original void.

Yet, the grand design remained painfully rigid. It lacked a force that could defy the natural order, something that could shatter the rules and make the impossible reality.

Magic

The final existence materialized. Unlike his predecessors, he was not bound to a single element. His form radiated with a shifting kaleidoscope of starlight, displaying colors that existed nowhere else. Though he wore the shape of a man, his presence was fundamentally alien. Time could not comprehend him, Destruction could not erase him, Creation could not govern him, Life could not define him, and Death could not claim him.

Looking upon the vastness of Creation, the being simply smiled. He called himself Magic.

Magic gifted existence something unprecedented: absolute possibility. Through him, Creation could forge the impossible. Energy bent, matter transformed, space warped, and reality itself was rewritten. The mortals dwelling within Creation’s realms could finally transcend the boundaries of their natural limitations. Magic flooded the multiverse, becoming the wellspring for every miracle, curse, spell, and blessing. But it arrived with a grim caveat: power without understanding possessed the potential to wreak more havoc than Destruction ever could.

Together, the six entities stood in harmony and opposition. Time. Destruction. Creation. Life. Death. Magic.

They were not gods, but the ancient foundations upon which gods, monsters, mortals, and universes would eventually grow. From their eternal dance came the beginning, the end, the cycle, and the impossible.

They were known, collectively and eternally, as The First.
