Chapter 1 intro

The stage lit up slowly, people chanting one name in particular.

"GFA! GFA! GFA!"

Girls From Asia.

This was their final concert before they left for a break.

This was the beginning of a new era.

GFA was a well-known K-pop group that started from nothing but scratch. They always believed their songs would shake the industry, and after 10 years of pushing, they finally did.

The group had only four members.

KIM HA-EUN, also known as Lia. She was the main dancer and leader. She was known for her elegant movements and the way she could command the stage without saying a word.

HAN SEO-YEON, also known as Rin. She was the main rapper. She was known for her crazy nature and the way she could turn almost any serious moment into a joke.

CHOI JI-WON, also known as Sora. She was the visual of the group, known for her beauty and calm personality.

And finally,

LEE SOO-MIN, also known as Lune. She was the main vocalist. She was known for many things, but the one thing her fans loved the most was her perfect pitch.

The four girls stood together at the center of the stage as thousands of light sticks filled the stadium.

Lia looked around at the crowd, her eyes becoming slightly emotional.

Lia: Ten years...

Rin turned toward her.

Rin: Don't start crying now.

Lia laughed.

Lia: I'm not crying.

Rin: Your eyes are literally shining.

Sora smiled as she looked at the fans.

Sora: Can you believe this is our last concert before the break?

Lune looked down at the crowd.

Lune: It doesn't feel real.

The crowd suddenly began chanting again.

"WE LOVE YOU! WE LOVE YOU! WE LOVE YOU!"

Lune smiled.

Lune: They really stayed with us all these years.

Lia raised her microphone.

Lia: GFA wouldn't be here without you!

The crowd screamed.

Rin stepped forward.

Rin: And don't worry! We're not disappearing forever!

Everyone laughed.

Rin: It's just a break!

Sora looked at her.

Sora: You sound like you're trying to convince yourself.

Rin: Maybe I am.

The girls laughed again.

The music started.

The final song of the night.

The four girls moved across the stage as the entire stadium sang along.

For a few minutes, nothing else mattered.

Not the cameras.

Not the company.

Not the pressure.

Not the endless schedules.

Just the four of them.

Together.

After the final note, the music stopped.

The lights slowly dimmed.

The crowd continued screaming their name.

GFA.

GFA.

GFA.

The four girls held hands and bowed.

Lia lifted her head and looked at the other three.

For some reason, she suddenly felt uneasy.

Lia: Guys...

Rin: Hmm?

Lia stared at them for a moment.

Lia: I have a strange feeling.

Sora: What kind?

Lia looked toward the darkened stage behind them.

Lia: Like this isn't really goodbye.

The others became quiet.

Rin quickly shook her head.

Rin: Nope. Don't say things like that.

Lune smiled nervously.

Lune: She's probably just emotional.

Sora: Yeah. We've been together for ten years. Maybe it's just the feeling of everything changing.

Lia smiled faintly.

Lia: Maybe.

The stage lights went completely dark.

The audience screamed one last time.

And GFA disappeared backstage.

None of them knew that before their next concert...

everything would change.

And one of the four girls would never return to the stage again.

Welded Shut

Sydne: Very heartwarming story. It has real emotions. The main female character reminds me somewhat of myself having to deal with childhood trauma that just leads you down a path of more bad decisions until one day you make a decision that changes everything for the better and it’s hard for to realize that...

TopazHorizon: What a sweet love story! I loved all the little stories from their childhood and teenhood. It really gave depth to their very fast love story. It made sense! I love how their parents were part of the story, too. I love how Theo is so gentle with her, like she's fragile... And yet so bossy in bed hah...
