Summary

Alexander es un joven atractivo y juguetón que siempre busca divertirse. Pero todo cambia cuando, al llegar a casa de su amiga Rocío, cruza miradas con su serio y elegante padre. Al notar que el hombre se sonroja y baja la mirada al sostenerle la vista, él sonríe con malicia: está casi seguro de que el estricto padre está reprimido. Y ahora, está decidido a comprobarlo.

Capítulo 1

—Boluda, Rodrigo me hizo ojitos hoy —dijo Alexander mientras empujaba la puerta de madera. Los adornos florales tallados le rozaron los nudillos.

Adentro, el padre de Rocío. Traje oscuro, zapatos negros brillando como si los hubieran lustrado esa mañana, un libro gordo abierto entre las manos. Castaño, alto, cuarenta y pico, el ceño apenas fruncido sobre la página. Absorto. O pareciéndolo.

Alexander le dio un codazo.

—¿Y ese quién es?

—Mi papá, pelotudo.

Alexander miró hacia el sillón. Y por alguna razón —o sin ninguna— el hombre levantó la vista. Se encontraron. Un segundo. Dos. El tipo volvió a su libro como si nada, pero Alexander sintió el peso de esa mirada un instante más de lo que hacía falta.

Rocío lo pescó. Le agarró un mechón de pelo rubio y tiró.

—Ni se te ocurra. Sos muy capaz de tantear el terreno con él.

—Ay.

Subieron la escalera de mármol. Alexander se reía. Rocío encendió las luces blancas —las de estudiar, no las amarillas de la mesita de noche, que quedaron apagadas como testigos mudos— y la habitación se llenó de ese brillo clínico. Pizarrón propio. Marcadores ordenados por color. Libros apilados por día de la semana. Sillas acolchadas, de esas con soporte lumbar. Alexander se dejó caer en una y estiró la mano, despreocupado, hacia el cubo de Rubik que había sobre la mesa. Un botón de la campera raspó la madera.

—Me vas a arruinar la mesa, pelotudo.

—Perdón. Por eso mamá me compró uno de madera.

Rocío puso los ojos en blanco.

—Ya veo por qué. ¿Me explicás por qué te tengo paciencia?

—Porque me cobrás bien para enseñarme cálculo. Como si fueras profe.

—Y debería dolerte el bolsillo, a ver si atendés en clase.

Alexander se recostó en la silla y dejó vagar la vista. Fotos en la pared: Rocío con su padre en la costa. Rocío con su madre en una plaza. Rocío sola, de campera escolar. Nunca los tres juntos.

—Ale. Empecemos antes de que se te haga tarde.

—Dale

Rocío agarró el marcador azul y destapó el pizarrón. Dibujaba, subrayaba, desarmaba la integral de línea en pedacitos de colores, como si cada trazo pudiera hacerle entrar la idea por los ojos. Alexander asentía con l cabeza y entendía la mitad.

—Rocío. ¿Descansamos?

—Unos minutos.

Silencio. Alexander giró el cubo de Rubik dos veces, sin resolver nada.

—Tus viejos están separados, ¿no?

Rocío dejó el marcador sobre la mesa con un *clic*.

—Así que estabas mirando las fotos en vez de atender.

—Pero sí o no.

—Sí. Según mamá, le atraía la inteligencia. Pero le provocaba crisis de nervios, así que eligió un novio más tonto que una piedra.

Alexander hizo girar el cubo otra vez.

—Yo me arriesgaría.

—No te atrevas. Además, sos muy puto.

—Soy bi. Y me parece atractivo. Aun a esa edad.

El pellizco en el brazo fue rápido, certero.

—No, Ale. No. Prometeme que te vas a portar como un chico educado si llegamos a cruzarlo. No quiero que piense que soy una rara.

Alexander se frotó el brazo. Sonrió.

—Está bien. Solo bromeo.

Rocío lo miró un segundo. Volvió a abrir el libro.
