The Lone Mermaid
Once upon a time
under the sea...
T’was a lone mermaid
who was loved by nobody...
She felt she was dull,
repulsive, and weird...
No one would accept her.
Well, that’s what she feared...
Until one unexpected day
when she felt so alone...
When her song of the sea
changed to a sad, lonely tone...
Up above the misty waters
where men with no fins reside...
her heart began singing
from such a wonderful sight...
Atop a large ship
from a faraway land...
t’was a charming young prince.
He was marvelous and grand...
But the mermaid just hid
and watched him from afar...
this stranger, this prince
who stole her lonely heart...
For a very long time,
all the mermaid did was just watch...
but soon, she suddenly realized
that that wasn’t enough...
So on one fateful night,
as the prince roamed the beach...
the mermaid came to shore
and transformed her fin into feet...
She met the young prince,
and they soon became friends...
The mermaid was kind of happy.
But is that already their end?
As days passed, she felt confused
if she should confess to the prince...
Would he feel the same way?
Would he accept her? Her fin?
But there was not much time
for she had less magic to spare...
that would transform her one fin
to two feet - a pair...
So when the time came,
she readied herself...
for her heart to be broken.
Fear and hurt are all she felt...
But as she got the words out
and her secret unveiled...
the prince just smiled
and before her, he kneeled...
“I love you, too,” He said,
“And your physique doesn’t matter.
It’s your kindness, your smile,
your wonderful laughter.
It’s the truth that you say
and your spark that fulfills me.
So don’t change who you are...
Being you is true beauty.”
The mermaid was shocked
yet filled with much bliss,
The two drew even closer
and sealed their ending with a kiss...
