The Broken Ring 💍
The night was cold, and the small village was asleep. Rohan sat under the old oak tree, staring at a simple silver ring in his hand. It wasn't expensive, but it meant the world to him. He had saved every rupee from working at the local repair shop just to buy it.
"You are dreaming too big, Rohan," his elder brother had warned him earlier that evening. "In our village, a boy with dirty hands and grease on his shirt cannot marry the daughter of a rich landowner."
Rohan knew the cruel reality of society. Wealth and family status mattered more than love. But when he looked into Zoya’s eyes, he saw a world where none of that mattered.
Suddenly, light filled the street as a high-end car stopped in front of Zoya’s massive house. Men with proud faces walked inside. Rohan’s heart sank. The rumors were true. Her family was finalizing her marriage to a wealthy businessman’s son—a man she had never met.
From her balcony, Zoya looked down at Rohan in the shadows. Tears streamed silently down her face. She held her hand to her chest, signaling a silent farewell. Rohan gripped the silver ring so tightly the metal dug into his skin. The pain in his hand was nothing compared to the sharp ache in his chest.

A very short chapter, but a good one. Will future chapters be longer? 😉
