Prologue
The darkness engulfed the hospital building just like a predator not allowing its prey to escape to freedom.
The sound of heels echoed with each step taken. The woman stared at the cabin next to the mortuary with eyes of suspicion. Every instinct in her screamed to get through that door-to find the answer, connect the missing pieces, and finally uncover the truth she had been chasing. However, she chose the mortuary. She gently opened the gates, careful not to make them creak.
She steadily read each label on the cabinets and stopped.
"43... yes, this is it."
She opened the cabinet.
There was nothing.
The cabinet was empty, as if nothing had ever existed there. The air around her became stiff and cold. She could feel her hands shaking and giving up.
"Damn it... no... no... no..."
She stumbled, refusing to accept what she saw. She struggled to catch her breath. Horrified, she lost her balance and fell onto the deep, cold floor.
"Not again..."
Suddenly, there were cars honking in the middle of the night, shaking the walls of the building as if trying to crumble it into pieces.
She understood that the danger could no longer be escaped. Still, giving fate one last chance, she ran.
She ran-for her life, for the future she still hoped to have, and from the past that had finally caught up with her.
"THERE IS THAT WOMAN! CATCH HER, QUICK!"
She heard someone shouting from the other side.
She could hear everything-the running footsteps, the sound of bullets striking the walls as they were fired towards her. Everything echoed across the corridors.
Someone was trying to kill her, while someone else was trying to save her.
Was it the end or was it just the beginning?
