Poem 1: The Voice You Summoned
I hate it when you tell me
what I should
and shouldn't have done.
Not because you're right or wrong,
but because of
a threatening question.
"How the fuck
did you mess up this one?"
From a voice
deep inside my head.
It hates so much
to be corrected.
Just as much as I dread
it being fed.
No,
I'm not arrogant.
It's just sometimes,
I'm better off ignorant.
So much critique
in your tone.
Unaware,
that i've got my own.
"You shouldn't have worn that today."
My insides still burn
from the decision.
"Oh, okay."
I smile and say,
while I ruin myself
with that-
"if only you had"-
perception.
What a stupid obsession.
If you say we're friends,
then why all these "amends"?
Close enough today,
tomorrow not quite.
You summoned a voice
I didn't invite.
Hosted by your piercing insight,
fueled by a debate
on what I could have done right.
Oblivious
to how deep your words bite,
or what they ignite.
So please-
No.
At least not today.
Don't tell me.
Keep whatever it is
you have to say.
THIS IS MY FIRST, I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT! STAY TUNED FOR MORE.
