Chapter 22
CHAPTER 22 — THE CHOICE WITHIN
The fourth word has changed everything.
After the mysterious door disappears and the rose key vanishes from Beatrice's hand, Beatrice, Nathaniel, and Elias remain inside the altered corridor of Breedlove Manor, trying to understand what the Manor has just revealed.
The word CHOOSE remains carved beneath the rose, but what exactly are they being asked to choose?
When the three siblings discover that the corridor now contains three different passages, each marked with one of the words they have already encountered—REMEMBER, GUARD, and OPEN—they realize the Manor may be testing them rather than simply guiding them.
Beatrice feels an inexplicable connection to the first passage. Nathaniel is drawn toward the second. Elias senses something beyond the third.
But choosing one path may mean leaving the others behind.
As the Manor begins responding to their thoughts, the siblings discover that the doors are not merely physical entrances. Each one appears to hold a different memory, fear, and possibility.
And when Beatrice finally understands what the Manor means by CHOOSE, she realizes the choice may not belong to one person at all.
The Manor has brought the three of them here for a reason.
Now it wants to know whether they will face that reason together.
