Chapter 1: Wake Up, Jeff
Chapter 1: Wake Up, Jeff!
This is it! The moment Isabel has been waiting for has finally arrived!! The crowd goes silent as they wait. There are only seconds left, so she knows it's now or never...
Isabel woke up feeling the cold winter sunshine on her face as she remembered what today is.
"Today's the day!" Isabel screamed with delight as she jumped out of bed and went straight to her wardrobe. "This year the Victoria Wolves are going to win the premiership! I've got to pick up my footy uniform!" She said as she picked her official charcoal and silver Gurersy with a big silver wolf on the left side, with silver strips going down the front and back with the number 5 sitting proudly on the back of it.
As she headed downstairs, she heard loud voices. "Starry, I have to go to work; we've been over this," a male voice said. "No, me want you wiv me!" A female voice replied. Isabel entered the kitchen as she saw her big brother and little sister at it again. Isabel's little sister always does this; she goes into a younger mindset and won't let Big Brother out of her sight! For some it'll be annoying, but for them? They don't care; they love her just the same! "Come on, Starry, I really have to go to work. I promise I'll play with you the
second
I get home, ok?" Light said as he struggled to untangle her from him. "No, me want you now and foreva!" Star said as her frustration and sadness started getting more intense. Isabel was about to intervene when someone's voice boomed. "Omg, you're not going to
Kmart
wearing
those
bloody
Uggs
, are you?? I know you're in the ARFW league, but everyone will think you're barking mad." The female voice said, laughing.
It was Voilet, Isabel's second youngest sister. She's always cracking jokes randomly while slurping her
Hungry Jack's
frozen coke. Light and Issy laughed while Star barked sweetly as she shook her Skally Waggette puppy plushie happily. She was about to congratulate her on the pun when someone pushed past her. "Sorry, Is need a drink." A female voice said frantically. It was Rory, Isabel's oldest sister. "Where's the bloody
pub squash?!"
She asked, searching for one. "What the f**k are you talking about Rore???? We haven't been to an
IGA
or
milk bar
in ages!" Violet said, looking at her, confused, taking another sip of her frozen coke. "Rory, calm down; there's plenty there. Of
Solo
, I mean, since that's what's in the fridge," he told her, smiling. "No, there isn't. I looked!" Rory said panicky as she tried
desperately
to find one. Isabel got to work and said, "Vio, you help Rore with looking for a
Solo
while I help Big Brother with Lil Sis." Violet nodded her head, putting down her frozen coke, and went to the fridge to find one. Once she found it, she handed it to Rore, who chugged it down gratefully. "Thanks, Vio," Rore said as she pulled out her phone to check her glucose patch on her arm.
Seeing Violet helping Rore, Isabel rushes over to help her big brother with their little sister. She gently wrapped her strong athletic arms around Star, pulling her towards her body as Light slipped away. He smiled at Isabel as his heavy trade boots clomped on the floorboards. Issy holds Star tightly still. She holds a medium-flat-size Skally plushie on her chest, rubbing her face on it for comfort, as her soft pigtails tickle Issy's chin.
Isabel was practically skidding across the floorboards as she burst out of the kitchen area and tore down the narrow hallway towards the front door. Her stress levels were already through the roof. Her phone was buzzing in her pocket as Coach Reynolds's strict face was flashing in her mind. And to make her brain fire up, even more the loud drumming of
"Wake Up, Jeff!"
echoed through the walls. "Can someone turn
The bloody Wiggle
s off??" She screamed. But before waiting for someone to do just that, she bolted out the door. She then suddenly looked down at her Samsung watch; it was a bit blurry, but she knew she was late, as the cold Melbourne air hit her skin.
Isabel sprinted toward the train station as she tilted her Samsung watch to scan her
Myki
. She waits anxiously for it to turn green. Once it does, she boored the train and headed towards the training field. Once arrived, she dashed towards the muddy oval as dirt and grass squelched beneath her boots. There, standing with a stopwatch in hand, was Coach Robyn Reynolds, and she was pissed. "Well, Isabel, nice of you to join us." She said with a stern expression.
Uh, oh, the coach isn't too happy with Issy. Is her career over before it even begins? Read chapter two to find out!
