Chapter 1 - The Email

Elena Hart has spent the last few years building a quiet, predictable life. At twenty-seven, she works at a small publishing company, lives alone, and has convinced herself that the strange gaps in her childhood memories are nothing worth worrying about.

Her life is ordinary—until an email arrives from an address she doesn’t recognize.

There is no subject.

Only one sentence:

“I’m sorry I let you believe he was dead.”

Elena stares at the message, confused. She doesn’t know who the sender is talking about. She has never had anyone close to her who died young—or at least, not that she remembers.

She deletes the email.

That night, another one arrives.

This time, the sender mentions something incredibly specific: a red bicycle Elena had as a child, including a detail that even her mother has never mentioned.

Someone knows her past.

The next morning, Elena searches through old boxes stored in her closet. She doesn’t know exactly what she’s looking for until she finds an old photograph tucked inside a children’s book.

The photograph shows Elena at around eight years old.

She’s sitting beside a boy near a lake.

They’re holding hands.

Elena doesn’t recognize him.

But on the back of the photograph, written in handwriting unmistakably similar to hers, are the words:

“If I ever remember him, everything starts again.”

For the first time, Elena wonders whether forgetting her childhood wasn’t an accident.

However, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed because Silver being a druid was revealed so suddenly, without much explanation. That part of the story still feels like a mystery, especially how...
