The Brothers Carter

College Park, Atlanta, 2021

One night in College Park, Wayne Carter, a bald man in a blue hoodie, was locked in a videogame with his brother, Steve. Steve was more obnoxious and hyperactive than Wayne, spouting dated millennial gamer memes like “PWNED” and “REKT” while playing with Steve. Before Steve could notice the window breaking, some men in red and black pulled up in a red Cadillac Escalade EV. Out came their boss, a bald, brown skinned man with sunglasses and a beard. The big man in red gave orders to his gang.

“Burn down that house!” The man said.

“You got it, Boss!” The Raiders said, throwing Molotovs at the house, burning it down. There were no smoke detectors, so the sound of the alarm did not wake the parents up. Wayne and Steve got in the blue Shelby Mustang and escaped from the burning building.

They stared at the rubble and broken floorboards after the flames died down.

“Take a last look, bro.” Wayne told Steve. “This is all that’s left of our childhood home.” They moved some of the floorboards and saw the charred carcasses of their parents.

“Mom....Dad...WHY!!” Steve cried. He kneeled down on the ground and started raining down tears from his eyes.

“They’re gone.” Wayne said in a serious tone. “They died in their sleep.”

“Dammit Wayne, why didn’t you save them!” Steve lashed at Wayne.

“I wanted to save our asses first.” Wayne replied.

“You never loved our mother and father, you wanted them dead!” Steve lectured Wayne.

“I just didn’t want to carry them out of the building since they were sleeping like fucking hippos and you know how hard it is to pick up a hippo.”

“Couldn’t you have tried to throw them out in the dumpster for safety?” Steve asked.

“Throw our parents in the dumpster, listen to yourself.” Wayne rudely replied. “I could just as well have died and gone to Hotel Satan.” Wayne sat in the Lotus position on the grass and looked at the rubble. “Shut up now.”

Steve and Wayne walked for miles to Ormwood. Wayne and Steve looked for a new house that was available on the market that insurance bought as a replacement.

“Well shit.” Steve said. “We lost our home, we in dis shit ass town, and we got nowhere to work.”

“Exactly, dog.” Wayne said. “Moms and Pops are dead, and there is no bringing them back. My aunt, uncle and even my nephews all died in the hood.”

“You saying you wanna get out of the hood?” Steve asked.

“Yes, but I also want revenge for my parents.” Wayne answered. “It ain’t gonna be easy, but we can start somewhere.”

“Look!” Steve said, looking on his phone. “There is an ice cream shop that is located not too far from here, we can work there to make some cash!”

“That’s not a bad idea, let’s rev up the blue blur and make us some money!” Steve and Wayne got in the Shelby Mustang and then proceeded to the ice cream store location.

At the ice cream shop, named Townsville Ice Cream, Steve and Wayne went up to the front counter of the white walled interior and gray floors along with black tables on the ground.

“Can I help you?” A woman with spiky orange hair and glasses wearing a black turtleneck and blue jeans wanted to help them.

“We’re here to apply for a job.” Wayne mentioned.

“I will get Mr. Ivo to come take a look.” The owner, Mr. Ivo Robinson, a white bald male with sunglasses and a big black beard wearing a red vest and a white shirt along with black pants greeted the two members.

“Hello, I am Ivo Robinson.” He said. “Why do you want this job?”

“We love the taste of ice cream and to make some would be a fun way to earn paper.” Wayne mentioned.

“Very well, you’re hired.” Ivo smiled, as he was up to something.

It was a busy Saturday at Townsville Ice Cream. There were people lining up to purchase some ice cream on a hot summer day.

“I would like some rocky road!” An Asian male customer called.

“Rocky Road, coming right up!” Wayne said.

“I would like some Neapolitan!” A black female customer called.

“Neapolitan, coming up!” Steven replied.

“I would like some strawberry, chocolate, cookie dough and vanilla in a four scoop cone!” A thick middle aged white woman hollered.

“Coming right up!” Wayne responded. “But considering that order, you might want to lose some of that weight you got there.”

“I know, but I just love to eat whatever has a lot of calories, it is empowering to me as a woman.” The woman remarked.

“Whatever.” Wayne sighed. “NEXT!” The woman left.

As the customers passed and the hours went by, Ivo checked on the blue boys.

“I want to see you in my underground office.” Wayne and Steve went underground in his office, seeing it as an underground chamber with a computer, some University of Georgia Bulldogs pennants, Falcons memorabilia, and even a styrofoam cup from Chick Fil-A, as well as a container of twelve count grilled chicken nuggets from Chick-Fil-A

“What is this place?” Wayne asked.

“This is my bunker.” Ivo introduced the blue brothers to the hideout. “Here you will carry out assasaination missions of people I don’t like, and you will make a large amount of dough depending on the target.”

“Who do you have in mind?” Steve asked.

“The name is Tracy Alexander, she is from a gang known as the Children of the Confederacy, a Neo-Confederate gang that wants to bring the legacy of the South back alive again.” Ivo said, pulling up her police file by hacking into police records. Tracy was seen as a black haired woman with blue eyes and a checkered blue shirt and a white bikini top.

“Find her and waste her, she hangs out at the golf club in Buckhead.”

“Sure, we’re going there!” Steve and Wayne took the blue Shelby to the golf club in Buckhead, and saw Tracy hanging with her Neo Confederate pals in gray buttoned shirts and gray pants. They fired their SMGs at Wayne. Wayne had no guns, so he opened the trunk of the Shelby to find one. He found a 12 gauge shotgun and popped the two Neo Confederate goons. Steve fired a warning shot at Tracy, but she was making her way to her black Mercedes Benz G Class. Steve popped the tires with his pistol. Tracy got out to change the tire, but she was killed by Wayne via shotgun. Wayne got a call from Ivo.

“Did you kill that bitch?” Ivo knew he would be displeased if they didn’t.

“Yes, boss man, we killed her!” Wayne recalled him making the kill.

“I am transferring 5,000 dollars to your bank account.” Ivo said, transferring the money.

“Steve, here’s your cut of the 10,000 dollars Tracy was worth.” Steve got 5,000 dollars in his account.

“Yea, we’re making money!” Wayne cheered, high fiving Steve. Wayne and Steve headed back to the shop for the next target.

“The next target is a member of the fraternity Alpha Sigma Sigma, who is codenamed Bass, because he plays the bass in a rock band.” Ivo pulled up Bass’s file, and he was from the Georgia Tech chapter of Alpha Sigma Sigma, seen with big glasses and a yellow and purple striped polo shirt.

“This guy?” Wayne asked. “For real, this guy’s a fucking nerd!”

“Nerd culture is mainstream now.” Ivo explained. “So mainstream it can be weaponized. Bass is using university resources to build gas bombs to wage turf wars on other fraternities.”

“Should we dispose of him?” Steve asked.

“Of course!” Ivo barked. “He’s worth 20,000 dollars so he better be dead or you’ll be in a lot of pain if he gets away.” Wayne and Steve drove the Mustang to the Georgia Tech campus to find Bass.

They drove to the campus and arrived at the ASS headquarters, which had a flag which was a gold dragon on a field of purple.

“He’s not here.” Steve was worried about the college kid’s whereabouts. Wayne got a call from Ivo.

“I forgot, make yourself part of the college scene to draw him out, chug the beer, do some weed, snort some coke, you know, what college kids do.”

“Right.” Wayne hung up. Wayne and Steve went into the ASS fraternity house, and found some Jack Daniel’s in the fridge.

“Aw yea, got me some Jack!” Wayne cheered. “Let’s chug that motherfucker!” He was chugging and chugging, but Bass caught them.

“What are you doing in the fortress of the dragon?” Bass asked. “I knew I shouldn’t have made our symbol a dragon because there are always knights ready to slay me.” Steve shot Bass with his pistol.

“Say, if Bass calls himself a dragon, dragons guard gold, right?” Steve asked.

“They do indeed.” Wayne answered. “So we are going to find what he left behind as extra money!” Steve and Wayne opened a door leading to the basement, and went downstairs.

“Holy shit, man!” Steve gasped with shock. “That’s like his whole life savings!”

“Too bad he’s dead so he doesn’t have to spend any of that money!” Wayne clarified. They took all the life savings money worth 400,000 dollars and headed out of the basement and headed out of the house. Ivo called Wayne up.

“Did you take care of Bass?” Ivo wanted an honest answer.

“We sure did.” Wayne was honest, and presented the proof that was Bass’s shirt that he looted from his corpse.

“Then I will award you each ten grand.” Steve and Wayne went back to their Mustang and drove to the ice cream shop to find out who the next target will be.

They got back to the ice cream shop, realizing that Ivo made an announcement, holding a drug package in his hand.

“Congrats Mr. Wayne, I have made you Employee of the Month!” Ivo hung an Employee of the Month plaque on the wall.

“I need you to complete one last assassination, and you will be destined for greater things.”

“What kind of things?” Wayne asked.

“Many great things like being a record label executive or being a quarterback, whatever suits you. The next target is a man named Jeff Rodriguez, he is a jewel thief and drug smuggler, lives in a mansion near Piedmont Park.

“How do I draw him out?” Wayne asked.

“He owns a white BMW X5 parked outside his mansion near Piedmont, and stealing it will draw him out.”

“Can I come?” Steve asked.

“This is a solo mission for my Employee of the Month.” Ivo was so proud of Wayne. “Besides I want to see how well you do on your own, Mr. Wayne.”

“I can do that.” Wayne accepted the job. Steve waited in the showroom while Wayne jacked a black Fiat 124 Spider and proceeded to Piedmont.

Wayne arrived at Jeff’s mansion in Piedmont. He stopped at the gates to avoid attracting attention. He found the BMW parked outside, approached it, and stole the car. Jeff, seen with brown comb over hair, sunglasses, a white buttoned down shirt over a white tank top and white shorts with tan shoes, came running to the car. He jumped in the back seat and grabbed Wayne, knocking him out.

“Untie me!” Wayne woke up seeing himself tied to a chair in the basement. The basement had a pool table, a bar and a large television. It was nice, but regardless, Wayne was a prisoner.

“What do you want me to do?” Wayne asked.

“First, tell me who you are working for?” Jeff asked.

“A man named Ivo Robinson, who owns an ice cream shop in Ormwood.” Wayne explained.

“Tell me where he is and I will untie you.” Jeff ordered.

“I can’t tell you, but I can show you, and if I do that, you need to untie me.” Jeff untied Wayne and got in that white BMW riding shotgun, while Wayne was driving. They drove to the shop and parked the car. Wayne led Jeff to the underground bunker.

“Is that a drug package?” Wayne asked, but was cut off.

“Ah!” Jeff gasped. “That’s a giveaway. He was using the ice cream as a cover for selling illegal drugs.”

“What the hell are you doing?” Ivo gasped with shock and anger. “You didn’t assassinate Jeff so you have betrayed me!”

“Look at these!” Jeff announced, pointing to a freezer full of green stuff.

“That’s weed ice cream, and weed is illegal in the state of Georgia!” He pointed to another freezer filled with cocaine ice cream.

“It’s true!” Ivo confessed. “I am a drug kingpin! Turn me in, beat me, but don’t kill me!”

“If I turn you in, you’ll just get bailed out by your buddies, so it’s a bullet in the brain for you!” Jeff remarked.

“Make it two bullets!” Jeff and Wayne simultaneously shot Ivo, killing him. One of the employees, the spiked hair lady, heard the gunshot and went to check on the boss.

“Ivo, are you ok?” the spiked hair lady asked. She realized that Wayne and Jeff had killed him.

“You killed Ivo!” The spiked hair lady shrieked. “I HATE YOU! YOU’RE FIRED!”

“Listen...” Jeff mentioned, but was cut off.

“NO EXCUSES!” The spiked hair lady sirened. “Scram, and take your brother with you!”

“I’ll take both brothers home so we can discuss how the real world really works.” Jeff replied. “¡Vamos, amigos!” Jeff and Wayne got in the BMW, while Steve got in the Mustang, and they met at Jeff’s place.

Jeff, Wayne and Steve arrived at the mansion.

“Make yourselves at home, watch some TV, get a Coke, or just chill but don’t fuck with my girls, ok?”

“For sure!” Jeff, Steve, and Wayne sat down to watch something on Netflix. Jeff got some popcorn and Coca Cola, but they were interrupted by Jeff’s wife Sarah, who had long black hair, blue eyes and wore a white blazer over her black bikini top, black leggings and white high heeled boots.

“Jeff, who are these strangers?” Sarah asked.

“These are Wayne and Steve, my friends.” Jeff answered. “They were lost, so I am raising them as my sons.”

“Well, with those kids and the girls, we have one big happy family.” Sarah said sarcastically. “Off to bed now, it’s 11:30!” Jeff went to his room to go to bed, while there was more popcorn and Coke for Sarah.

“Wayne, you and your brother can sleep in the guest room.” Sara said. Steve and Wayne went to sleep in the guest room. As everyone went to sleep, they were going to wake up for a new day of new challenges in the new day of the journey.
