Summary

Hay amores que sostienen y hay silencios que destruyen. En Tonalli, las mañanas huelen a pan y a ceniza. Las noches pesan como una losa sobre el pecho. Y algunas personas se apagan lentamente sin que nadie lo note. Hasta que es demasiado tarde. Porque incluso después de la muerte, el vacío no desaparece. Solo cambia de nombre. Bienvenido a Tonalli. Aquí, cuando un corazón deja de latir, no siempre significa que el dolor terminó. Significa que alguien acaba de recibir su diagnóstico. Significa que el llamado carmesí ha comenzado.

Prólogo.

El sol brilló anunciando un nuevo amanecer. 

El tráfico interminable de la gran urbe Tonalli, que hace algunas horas fluía con normalidad, ahora estaba embotellado en largas filas donde reinó el sonido de bocinas e insultos a los que se sumó el inminente sonido de las patrullas.

Minutos después, tras haberse abierto paso entre las densas filas de coches, dos patrullas y una camioneta blanca con el emblema oficial estampado en la carrocería llegaron al inicio de aquel bloqueo de tráfico para dar una pronta atención a la situación; un oficial se encontraba parado al frente del caos mientras ondeaba una bandera roja para impedir el paso a los vehículos.

Aquella situación no era un accidente, mucho menos un choque, era algo muy distinto. A simple vista un montón de arena, pero para los policías era algo que dividía sus reacciones, daba náuseas a los primerizos y profunda apatía en los veteranos.

—¿Qué tenemos hoy, oficial Huerta? —el perito se dirigió al oficial al mando mientras ajustaba su overol blanco, —Otro calcinado… Carajo, son las ocho pinches de la mañana… Y ya tenemos varios restos de estos estúpidos regados por las calles… —Antes de que el oficial pudiera continuar, el radio en su pecho sonó de forma ruidosa —Z1 en la avenida Lázaro… Repito… Otro Z1 ubicado en la Avenida Lázaro…—Al escuchar el código Huerta suspiró molesto —Ahora son cuatro… —el radio interrumpió de nuevo; Huerta solo se limitó a suspirar, sabía que esto ya no iba a parar.

Mientras volvía a su patrulla para trazar la siguiente ruta, se tomó un momento para simplemente observar a sus compañeros peritos en la escena, daban conclusión al levantamiento de restos separando las prendas de la pila de tierra color grisáceo, para luego meter cada artículo por separado en bolsas resellables.
